WINTER BLUES

Source:

The landscape is cold and bleak.
I’m beginning to feel weak.
Ice is melting in my shoes.
I’m getting the winter blues.
I can’t find my way out of here.
I had thought the town was so near.
I’ve been walking for days.
I’m in some kind of daze.
There’s a break in the rocks ahead.
I hope they didn’t leave me for dead.
My friends have to come back for me.
Rocks and trees are all I can see.
My friends are in the park playing ball.
I didn’t have to be afraid at all.

FREE FALL THROUGH SPACE

What does it feel like?
To free fall
through the air.
To let yourself go
to the feeling.
To step back and jump.
Nothing but air
until you hit the water.
To believe in yourself.
To believe in the water
to cushion your fall.
Freedom.
An escape from life.
An escape from reality.
What does it feel like?
I’ll let you know
after I hit the water.

THEN COMES THE CRACK

Source:

We can hold ourselves firm.
Strong against all obstacles.
Ready to tackle all problems.
And then comes the crack.
The one obstacle we can’t stop.
The one thing we have no control over.
It can break us apart into pieces.
It can weaken our hold onto life.
Or it can make us stronger still.
We all hit that obstacle at one point in our lives.
What will you do?

DREAM A LITTLE DREAM

DREAM A LITTLE DREAM

Dream a little dream.
An orange, red sun
Setting over the ocean.
A jagged cliff
Showcasing a lighthouse.
A light casting its glow,
While waiting for a ship.
Waves lapping at the rocks,
Trying to climb the steep fortress.
Clouds rolling in over the mountain,
Attempting to hide the light.
The sun slowly falling,
Losing some of its fire.
A ship appearing in the distance,
Seeking the lone light.
Its lights blinking in sequence.
The lighthouse signalling back.
All is well.
Dream well done.

TAKE ME FAR AWAY

TAKE ME FAR AWAY

Come with me away from it all.
Let’s climb a hill that’s really tall.
An island for me and you.
And skies that are clear and blue.
We will take long walks on the sand.
And don’t forget to take my hand.
I will never feel alone or lonely.
I will always have my one and only.

A BEAUTY FROM WITHIN

Nature has its beauty.
Rolling mountains.
Deep planes.
Blue skies.
Fields of flowers.
But there’s a deeper beauty.
A beauty that lies within.
Within the creations of nature.
A light.
A soul.
A purpose.

FOOTSTEPS

Do we dare?
Dare to walk in the snow.
Climb the rocks.
Slide down the slopes.
Feel the cold on our faces.
The wind hitting our bodies.
The brisk nip in the air.
Should we?
Someone else has done it,
while we’ve been procrastinating.
Do it now.

HOW PERFECT

bobcronkphotography:
Japanese Gardens - Portland, OR

Watch the water flow.
Down the mountain.
Over the rocks.
Carrying leaves and fish.
To new places.
To new sights.
Watch the fish jump and play.
The sun’s rays reflecting
on the smooth surface.
Listen to the soothing sounds.
The water splashing against
The submerged tree limbs.
How perfect.
How satisfying.
Dip your toes into the cold splendor.
That makes it perfect.

THE OCEAN

THE OCEAN
No greater force on earth.
No master.
No remorse.
No purpose.
No stopping.
Not by a mountain
or by man.

NATURE'S MAJESTY

Beauty.
Majesty.
Awe-inspiring.
There are no words
to describe this.
Nature’s work cannot
be compared or copied.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 116

What secrets are buried in Oasis, Florida? Who lives in the quaint gingerbread house and who are they watching?

Anna led them across the front room, which was furnished with antique couches and chairs. To the right, Linda stole a quick glimpse of the dining room with its beautiful crystal chandelier and large dining room set. On the left, she had already seen the quaint living room with its flowery curtains and ornate antique furniture.
They climbed the narrow staircase, which was set back behind the front desk. At the top, Linda looked around and was startled to find that the house was much larger inside than it had appeared from the outside. As they followed the long hallway, they were shown five bedrooms: each with its own unique color scheme and furniture. The first room on the right was done all in pink with white and gold furniture. Toys were scattered about the room with dolls lined up on the bed—as if the inhabitant was expected to return at any moment.
The room to the immediate left was decorated in blue, with boys’ dark furniture and toys. The next two bedrooms, on either side of the hallway, also displayed children’s furniture and belongings: one with green furnishings and the other one with purple. The last bedroom, straight ahead, belonged to Abe and Anna.
Linda was entranced by the rooms and all the furnishings. When Anna requested for them to visit the attic, Linda agreed. She hoped the attic was full of old clothes and items from the past.
They climbed a narrow staircase that descended from a trap door in the hall’s ceiling. They discovered the attic to be bare, except for the lone rocking chair that was facing the gravel road leading out of town. Linda walked over to gaze out the small triangular window, when the chair began to rock by itself.
Anna said, “Everyone in the family takes turns watching the supposedly deserted mansion down the dirt road, and End House at the edge of the dark mountain. Both spots can be clearly seen from this vantage point.”
Linda realized that this meant that someone was actually sitting in the chair—right at that moment— causing it to start rocking. She didn’t ask any more questions, but just grabbed Shana’s arm and pulled her out of the room, bidding the couple a hasty goodbye. She didn’t think that she could remain in this unnatural house one moment longer without either screaming or pulling her hair out. She was freaking out over the house and the strange story that she’d been just told.

EXCERPT FROM "THE DEAD GAME"

Look at the pretty gingerbread house down the gravel road. Linda and Shana went to visit the elusive couple who lived there. Abe and Anna were strange and who knew what secrets they were hiding.

LIGHTNING STRIKES

At times we are too exposed to life and
the sadness it may bring to our lives.
We wait for our lives to get better on their own.
But this is what we shouldn’t be doing.
We should be protecting ourselves
for whatever life has in store for us in the future.
We should be protecting our hearts, our bodies,
and our loved ones.
We must erect strong barriers to withstand any storm.
Only then will be prepared.
Only then we won’t be sitting and waiting, like
a lone tree waiting on the mountain for lightning to strike.
At times we are too exposed to life and
the sadness it may bring to our lives.
We wait for our lives to get better on their own.

THE DEAD GAME--DAY 40

One house stood apart from the others and could only be reached from End House. It was the house of Charles Wolf, the famous modern artist. It was situated farther down the cliff, below Minnie and Frank’s home. Wolf’s house was comprised of three main sections, each section having its own green-glassed dome. The house was constructed from concrete and had all its windows blacked out. Todd had never seen the inside of the house and didn’t know if he ever wanted to. Wolf kept to himself and wore a dark scowl on his face whenever Todd happened to notice him in town.
Todd and his fellow passengers didn’t drive past the homes in the middle section of the mountain, but instead followed the main road along the top of the mountain. After Hayden’s house, the main road took another sharp dip—right before their final destination. Finally we have reached End House and the end of our fateful journey.

THE DEAD GAME--DAY 39

The remainder of the town’s original residents lived in
the middle section of the mountain. These homes were accessible only by a small side road, leading from Reece’s house. They were more modest in structure and size than the homes higher up the hill. Reece’s closest neighbor was Hank, who owned a white cottage with dark-tinted green windows. Shirley’s majestic house with round turrets and green sparkling windows was located farther down the same side road. Beyond Shirley’s house, the narrow side road dipped down to wind past the unusual triangular-shaped home of Minnie and Frank, which was made of dark-green glass and metal.
