WHERE THE WIND BLOWS
The trees of the forest shiver and shake,
their long limbs trembling for the next quake.
Their bodies blaze a glaring white
with tears frozen from their new plight.
The world has become hard and cold.
My trembling body feels old.
Surrounded on four sides by white,
the bright glare has blinded my sight.
White is the color of my nightgown
as I stand and shiver with a frown.
A shadow emerges from the trees.
I hope it is not him, pretty please.
My body moves forward against my will.
I grab a thick tree and try to hold still.
I dig my feet into the packed snow,
but I must go where the wind might blow.

SEND IN THE CLOWNS

Daniel Merriam

I open my eyes to strange creatures.
Why are they in my bedroom?
Their thrill laughter makes my skin crawl.
They wave knives at me.
I need to escape.
I can’t.
I’m tied to my bed.
They move closer.
I close my eyes.
Silence fills the room.
I slit my eyes open.
The room is now empty.
I glance at my chair in the corner.
A red balloon is tied to it.
Oh no.

THE DEAD GAME

A LIVING SCULPTURE

The beauty of nature.
It is a living and breathing
sculpture.
It entices us.
It bemuses us.
It challenges us.
But most of all,
it inspires us.

MY THOUGHTS DRIFT

My thoughts drift to him.
He fills me with longing,
Cold as the night air.
He roams free in the dark,
But yet he returns for me.
I dare not meet him
In the forest at midnight.
I must hold firm
And not venture into the woods
To rekindle his dark flame.
I must stand strong
Or my light will turn dark.

WAIT FOR THE NIGHT

Source:

Wait for the night
To darken the sky
In deep shades of red,
To purples fading to black.
Silence follows on gossamer wings
To quiet the uneasy heartbeats
Sleeping in quiet bedrooms,
To soothe the roaming beasts.
Wait for the night
To bring a dark veil on activities
In a network of black lace,
To unfurl the dark shadows.
Silence is here
And so is the night.

TOMBSTONES MOVING

I see tombstones moving,
Winds blowing,
Grass ruffling.
The Dead wait for darkness.
The streets of town they walk.
Innocent victims they will find.
The games are about to begin.

RISING FROM THE DEEP

Source:

From under the sea
they have come for me.
Rising from the deep
they come when I sleep.

Through the small town, they roam,
looking for a new home.
Blending with tourists at day,
but at night they get to play.

Bloodthirsty as they are,
they don’t have to go far.
They take sustenance within reach,
leaving dead bodies on the beach.

Tourists flee the hotel
before they’re doomed to hell.
The evil one walks tall.
Our town will surely fall.

💔PREY FOR THE DEAD💔

LOST IN THE STORM

pale-womannSource:

The storm approaches the shore.
Dampness coats the air.
Mist sprays against my face.
Strands of hair fly in the wind.
Thunder rumbles in the distance.
I feel it.
It’s almost here.
Will I lose myself to it?
Let it take me to its depths.
I spread my arms,
Lift my head high.
I let myself fall.
Arms pull me under.
Lips reach for mine.
I’m lost for eternity,
Lost to the rushing wind,
Prisoner of the ultimate despair,
Partner in pain and sorrow.
The choice is made and done.
I float away with my dear one.
Together we will forge a path
Through darkness and hell
To a heavenly place beyond.

I REACH FOR YOU

I reach for you.
I can’t touch you.
You are gone.
I must accept this.
There’s no coming back.
No second chances.

ALONE WITH NATURE

Alone with nature,
a feeling like no other.
A sky filled with birds,
purple with the fading sun.
Sea breezes wrap around me,
cocooning me with their mist.
Life stands still for this picture,
a glimpse of heaven from above.

WILL MY WISHES COME TRUE?

I gaze at the night sky
at the bright lights so high.
Will my wishes come true?
Will I ever see you?

You appear in my dreams each night.
I yearn to have you in my sight.
I haven’t seen you for years.
But you’re always in my tears.

Would we have had a good life,
one without sadness and strife?
I won’t be able to ask you this.
I won’t be rewarded with this bliss.

I must be content with my dreams
as my life crumbles at the seams.
I keep my memories close inside.
Of my love, I have no need to hide.
