A WALK BY THE SEA

A walk by the sea
is waiting for me.
Salt in my hair,
please join me here.
We should take this opportunity
before we can hit our next thirty.
Chances like this are rare.
We are are a lucky pair
to walk along the beach
so close within our reach.

PURPLE HAZE

Source:

As I walk slowly in a daze,
Surround me in a purple haze.
I could fall asleep in this tent.
The smell alone is heaven sent.
The scent of lilac is filling my head.
I need to find an appropriate bed.
I will just sit on this bench in the sun
And enjoy the lights of the setting sun.

FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD

A walk down the street.
Fragrances so sweet.
White cobblestones line the way.
Here is where I want to stay.
Away from the madding crowd.
A place where I can be proud.
This will be my home.
I don’t need a phone.
All I need is a soft bed
To lay down my weary head.
Fishermen’s cries will awake me
To begin my day by the sea.

ALONE

Alone can be refreshing,
A walk in the cold snow.
Lonely can be depressing,
A silence that hits you low.

Can we distinguish between the two,
As we listen to our heart’s song?
Our time alone is so rare and few,
Refreshing until it feels wrong.

At this moment I feel alive,
Alone but not lonely in my own place.
My dark spirit yearns to survive,
As I raise my happy face.

LOST AND ALONE

Lost & Alone

Lost and alone in my head,
Can’t fall asleep in my bed.
Waves crashing in my mind,
Pain is all I can find.
Take a walk on the beach I’m told
To clear the cobwebs from their hold.
But here I’m alone with the surf,
Lost and alone on my own turf.
The boat’s foghorn echoes my grief,
A loss profound beyond belief.
The soulful sound takes me away
To happier times I can say.
To times when you held me
And told me you loved me.
Those times are gone for good,
Forget I know I should.
At night when I close my eyes to sleep,
All I can see is our love so deep.
As hard as I might try,
I can’t let go and fly.
So here I walk on the beach,
Knowing you’re out of my reach.
But still, I yearn and burn
For a love, I can’t earn.

THE PATH

1 Path
A path is only as hard
as you allow it to be.
Take steady steps.
Never look back.
Never quit.
Face forward.
Back straight.
Walk forward.
Not only will you make it far
but you will have followers.

TOUCH THE RAINBOW

TOUCH THE RAINBOW
I take the winding path shaded in red
instead of hiding in my comfy bed.
The road widens and narrows its scope
as it weaves away from any hope.
Blood red threatens the night sky
as laughter follows up high.
Rivers of crimson red coat my tired feet
as I walk the road of shame and defeat.
Why cannot life take the high road?
I ask if I may be so bold.
Up ahead I see a bright light
as I rise up with all my might.
I run toward the rainbow in my mind
in the colors and hues, I hope to find.

ALONE IN THE WOODS

ALONE IN THE WOODS
Shadows follow me into the deep.
I walk while others are asleep.
The chill flows right through me.
I’m alone as you can see.
White sleepy lambs elude me.
Though I am where I should be.
Here in the forest on this path.
Sun will rise, it can do the math.
It will find me on this bench.
Next to the one with the stench.
It is past time for me to move on.
Before I’m found by what is now gone.

STOP TO SMELL THE FLOWERS

Autumn Fence, Woodstock, Vermont

A walk down a country road,
not knowing what it may hold.
Leaves crunch loudly beneath my feet,
walking fast is no easy feat.
I need to get home to make dinner,
I’d hoped the walk would make me thinner.
But I need to slow down and breath the air,
as sweet as cotton candy at a fair.
My steps follow the white picket fence,
the other side makes me cold and tense.
The huge dog jumps high in the air,
his eyes white dots in his black hair.
He whimpers and walks closer to me,
his dark eyes as wide as can be.
He lifts a large paw to the gate,
as I slow down my frenzied gait.
I stop in place to pet his head,
I know I have just made my bed.
I will now be home late for dinner,
but the dog knows I’m still the winner.
I have stopped to smell the flowers,
I’m refreshed with super powers.
I race home with new resolve,
no more time puzzles to solve.

SOOTHING WETNESS

Source:

A walk to the edge.
A dip in the ocean.
A dive into the unknown.
It will soon cover me
With its soothing wetness.
Am I ready?

WALK ALONE

Poise. by Karl-Shakur

We walk alone,
Year after year.
Troubles weigh us down,
No end in sight.
Our loads become heavy,
Our bodies weary.
Frowns on our faces,
Eyes to the sky above,
We ask for salvation.
No answer for our ears.
Hope lingers in our souls,
A hope for better days.
If not in this lifetime,
then maybe in the next.

MAN LEFT BEHIND

Source:

Take a walk inside.
The dark rooms.
Musty smelling.
Cobwebs.
Cracking ceilings.
Deserted.
Damp.
See what humanity left behind.
