THE FIGHT

earthporn-org Deactivated
View of Mt. Fuji from Mt. Tenjo on a cloudy winter morning

THE FIGHT
Night into day.
Day into night.
I’m swept away
As I hold tight.

The night numbs me,
Making me cold.
The days rush by
As I grow old.

I prefer day
When the sun shines.
The night is fey,
Dark through the pines.

Night into day.
Day into night.
Days become grey,
No strength to fight.

DESERTED CASTLE

Inside Edinburgh’s castle. Scotland || Personal photograph

A castle where spirits walk
Darkness hides in corners
Vintage fingerprints smudge the walls
Old fragrances float in the air
Shadows follow without footsteps
And sighs fill the empty spaces

LIFE IS FOR LIVING

The young hold the secret.
The secret to living.
A hop.
A skip.
A jump.
Each day brings
new experiences
and adventures.
Just hop, skip
and jump your way to
living and enjoying
life to the fullest.

WE WALK ALONE

We walk alone
through the cold and rain.
We carry our troubles
on our weary backs.
The load gets heavier
each and every year.
We grow older
but not always wiser.
When will life become simpler?
When will the load lighten?
Not in this lifetime.
Maybe in the next.

THE GATES

whitechapelwitch:
>>x<<

Hidden fears.
Hidden desires.
They ring loud and true.
Deep within the gates,
Within the walls of the old house,
Lies remnants of the past.
Haunting thoughts.
Haunting feelings.
Trapped inside.
Don’t let them out.

THE ROAD TO NOWHERE

What will it feel like
at the end?
On your last road,
at your last stop.
No more road signs.
No more signals.
Only dead silence.
No people.
No lights.
No sounds.
Memories flitting by.
Old smells.
Then darkness.
No!
I want to go out
with a bang!
A parade.
A marching band,
with music and laughter.
Let’s wait for the parade.
I can hear it in the distance.

IT'S ALIVE!

lifeisthefight:

The mind is alive.
It grows each day.
New cells are born.
New sprouts of ideas.
Old ones are buried.
Fresh blooms as replacements.
Roots extending and reaching.
For new hopes and dreams.
For new experiences.
Let in with the new
and out with the old.
The mind is alive.
Let it grow and be nurtured.

THE TEST OF TIME

djferreira224:
Sunset in Everglades National Park, Florida
The test of time.
We all succumb to it.
It takes its victims.
No one is safe.
Wither.
Dry up.
Turn to dust.
And life goes on.
Until the next victims
bite the dust.
And so it goes.
On and on.
In waves.
In cycles.
In perpetuity.
No reason to fight it.
Accept it.

OLD GLORY

Step inside.
I was once a beautiful gazebo.
People would use me for parties.
There would be dancing.
Children would play their games,
like hide and seek.
The sun favored me.
The moon adored me.
I could do no wrong.
Then weeds began to grow.
I began to splinter apart.
There would be no more visitors.
Why you may ask?
I was a casualty of time.
Time passed and
so did my glory.

HIS PLACE

The sun begins to set.
There are scurrying sounds
as the animals prepare for the night.
But the old elephant stands in his place.
He doesn’t need to move.
He has everything he needs
right in front of him.
He keeps a watchful eye
on the other animals.
But he stands in his place.

RAPUNZEL! RAPUNZEL!

Rapunzel! Rapunzel!
Let down your gorgeous hair.
I want to climb up your blonde strands.
Come to me my darling.
I will be yours.
And you will be mine.
Forever we will walk
hand in hand.
Never to be alone again.
Come closer.
I cannot see you.
Wait!
That’s not Rapunzel!
The face is old and wrinkled.
The hair is long and scraggly.
What happened to my sweet love?
Have I waited too long?

PERCEPTION

Do you feel like you have a separate person inside?
A different person than the one portrayed to the world?
Do you feel young with an older person peeking out?
Or are you an old person with a younger one inside?
I’ve always felt like the same little girl inside.
My body ages but inside I’m the same.
I have the same thoughts and feelings.
I might deal with them in a more mature manner
but maybe not.

TIME STOPS FOR NO ONE

Time continues on and on.
Without stopping or hesitating.
What if time stopped?
Would we still age?
Would everyone and everything
come to a stand still?
It’s nice to dream, isn’t it?
Time continues on and on.
Without stopping or hesitating.
What if time stopped?
Would we still age?
Would everyone and everything
come to a stand still?
It’s nice to dream, isn’t it?

NEW LIFE EMERGES

In the midst of darkness and despair,
life emerges.
Life is persistent.
It continues on despite
death and misfortune.
It can always be counted upon
to bring forth new light.

EXCERPT FROM "THE DEAD GAME"

Look at the pretty gingerbread house down the gravel road. Linda and Shana went to visit the elusive couple who lived there. Abe and Anna were strange and who knew what secrets they were hiding.
EXCERPT FROM “THE DEAD GAME”

When Anna requested for them to visit the attic, Linda agreed. She hoped the attic was full of old clothes and items from the past.
They climbed a narrow staircase that descended from a trap door in the hall’s ceiling. They discovered the attic to be bare, except for the lone rocking chair that was facing the gravel road leading out of town. Linda walked over to gaze out the small triangular window, when the chair began to rock by itself.
Anna said, “Everyone in the family takes turns watching the supposedly deserted mansion down the dirt road, and End House at the edge of the dark mountain. Both spots can be clearly seen from this vantage point.”
Linda realized that this meant that someone was actually sitting in the chair—right at that moment— causing it to start rocking. She didn’t ask any more questions, but just grabbed Shana’s arm and pulled her out of the room, bidding the couple a hasty goodbye. She didn’t think that she could remain in this unnatural house one moment longer without either screaming or pulling her hair out. She was freaking out over the house and the strange story that she’d been just told.

IF TIME STOOD STILL

What if time stood still?
We wouldn’t get older.
We would look the same forever.
Would we be bored with life after awhile?
Would be less in a hurry to get things accomplished?
There would be no reason to do things right away.
We would just put off what we could do today for tomorrow.
Then tomorrow, we would procrastinate for the next day.
Let the clock move ahead.
It would be awful to be stuck in time.

THE MEMORIES

LIFE PASSES BY SO FAST.
WE NEED TO STOP AND HOLD ON
TO THE MEMORIES.

WE NEED TO STOP AND HOLD ON
TO THE MEMORIES.
