A WALK IN THE GRAVEYARD

Let’s take a walk through the graveyard.
Preferably at night under a full moon.
The gravel crunches under your soft footsteps.
The words on the tombstones welcome you
to visit their hosts.
You see a mausoleum in the distance.
Its door stand open,
beckoning for you to enter its darkness.
You step inside.
The door slams shut behind you.
You hear soft moaning sounds.
One of the doors of the crypt slowly opens.
A hand reaches out for you.
You move closer.
The door opens wider.
And then…
You wake up!
I’ll see you in your dreams.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 198

The horror at the town hall was over. The residents of Oasis were saved once again. All was good. All were happy. Except for Mike, who wanted a show-down with the demons. He wasn’t satisfied with the easy resolution of their troubles.

Shana felt the creature’s hold on her begin to slacken. She glanced up and saw its body begin to fade until it slowly turned to dust. Then she was falling. She closed her eyes and then felt arms around her. She looked up into Todd’s brown eyes. Wow, he is gorgeous. Now she could see what Linda saw in him. He put her down. He then helped Linda up from the ground, who asked, “Is this finally over? Will others try to kill us?”
“No,” Todd said, “I think we’ve finally rid the town of all the evil creatures.”

The famous last words chanted by every hero. Mike was hoping that there was more to come; he was beginning to enjoy the parade of vampires and their superhuman display of tricks.

The clock chimes midnight in Oasis.
The dancers stand at attention
in the middle of the dance floor.
After the last chime, dancing resumes.
Laughter and music can be
heard once again.
Midnight is a special hour in Oasis.
An hour that The Dead wait for each night.

THE HAUNTED MANSION

The gates stand wide open.
The deserted mansion can be
seen in the distance.
The yard is overgrown with weeds.
There is no sign of life.
Even the trees and bushes
look to be dead.
While the town is bright and sunny,
the mansion’s property is dark and dreary.
It might look deserted but it does have inhabitants.
Not ordinary inhabitants of a town, but
ones who only come out at night.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 176

Linda was horrified that her friends were tied together on top of a bonfire. She couldn't believe that Todd was unable to save them from the wrath of Shirley.

“Everyone has forgotten about me again.” Hayden appeared before them. He turned to Shirley. “You’re becoming very tiresome, always getting in the way of the true course of events.”
“Do you really believe that you will be able to save these humans when I have all my vampires to back me up?” Shirley lifted her arms. A large group of vampires dressed in black hooded robes appeared behind her.
Once they pulled back their hoods, Linda was stunned to see that they were tired, middle-aged men. However, upon closer inspection, she noticed that their fangs were extended and their eyes were burning red hot.
“What a fine group of vampires: consisting of the old and infirm,” Hayden said as he waved his hand to make the whole group of geriatric vampires go up in flames.“Now you have no followers.”
Waving his hand once more, Shirley, Hank, Minnie, and Frank were lifted up and thrown against the wall. They hung suspended while Hayden informed them of their fate. “I’m sending the four of you down to burn in hell so that you can forever lament over the choices you’ve made that have sealed your fate for all eternity.” With that said Hayden turned his hand slightly and vanquished them forever from this world.
The bonfire sizzled and died out. Todd and Sam, whose shackles clicked open, helped Shana down from the tall mound of burnt wood. Linda was thankful that they only looked black from the smoke of the bonfire, but not hurt. She threw herself into Todd’s arms despite his disheveled and burnt appearance, holding him tight. Brushing feather-like kisses across her face, he crushed her against his body.

5 STAR REVIEW OF THE DEAD GAME

A great review of THE DEAD GAME!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, July 21, 2014
This review is from: The Dead Game (Paperback)
As a big fan of supernatural genre,I really enjoyed reading The Dead Game. The story starts at a fast pace and doesn't slow down until the very end. The characters are very believable and likeable, each in their own way. I'm really hoping there will be a sequel.

THE HAUNTED HOUSE

Would you take the dare to
spend the night in an old house?
A house rumored to be haunted.
One with old furniture, dark hallways,
and creaky sounds.
I would.
I would lie on the bed with
my eyes open all night,
waiting for ghosts,
listening to the sounds
of an old house.
Who knows?
Maybe a spirit or two would appear.
Or maybe a wind would move the
curtains in a room with locked
windows and doors.
Would a dead body show up in the morning?
I’ll be waiting.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 145

Todd believed it was time to take control of the situation at Oasis. Too many people were disappearing from the town. People were beginning to suspect that vampires were involved.

As Todd held Linda, he realized that she was holding herself much stiffer than usual. He wondered what had really transpired between her and Wolf. He had seen them embracing and kissing very passionately. He hoped that she hadn’t been fooled by Wolf’s charms, which he had always been able to skillfully employ to his own advantage. He’d have to keep a closer watch over her in the future and make sure she stayed far away from Wolf.

 Chapter 24
Early Saturday morning Todd drove into town leaving Linda sound asleep in her apartment. He wanted to meet with Sam alone.
The sheriff’s office was quiet: the desks stood empty, the phones were silent, and no one was handcuffed or waiting to see the sheriff. He opened the door to Sam’s private office and found him bent over his desk, busy doing paperwork. He looked up as Todd strolled in. Too bad Sam had grown accustomed to having him plan all their maneuvers. However, this time he wasn’t so sure that he could annihilate a powerful enemy whose members still remained a mystery.
He wanted to hear Sam’s opinion on the idea that he’d mentioned to Linda last evening. “We could interrogate Hayden. Since he was first loyal to us, he might be persuaded to switch sides and come back to us.”
“That’s a pretty far-fetched idea, but I’m willing to go along with anything right now. Shana is terrified of me. She doesn’t know what to believe anymore. She thinks that I’m some strange creature.”
“No, of course she doesn’t. I saw her gazing at you with affection. She looked very comfortable in your arms. Once we explain to them about human vampires, Linda and Shana will feel safer and let us protect them. We can’t worry about that now. Come on! We have a job to do!”
