SILENT FEET

SILENT FEET

Source:

They walk on silent feet
through the forest so deep.
I must keep moving my feet
without stopping to sleep.

The howling wind plays their song
of bloody deaths for us all.
They’re not for this place for long.
They wait for the town to fall.

They are surrounding me.
I can’t outrun their reach.
Somehow I must get free
and make it to the beach.

The ground is opening.
Sadly I know for whom.
I’m falling in a hole
that will soon be my tomb.

THE DEAD GAME --- BENEATH END HOUSE

THE DEAD GAME — DAY 63

Horrified by the deformed creatures, Linda slipped and lost her hold on the slimy rocks. She began to free fall through space…down into the nether reaches of End House. Flashing through her mind were disturbing images of the creatures living beneath the house. Were they somehow related to the creatures that drifted through town? Would she become one of them once she reached the bottom of the tunnel? Was there even a bottom to the tunnel? Would she continue falling forever? How…
Todd’s booming voice interrupted her wild jumble of thoughts. Into the deep unyielding silence, Todd had yelled out, “Stop!” The tunnel obeyed his order and transformed itself back into stairs with the evil creatures retreating to wherever they’d come from.
They were standing once again on top of the sweeping staircase. This time they made it all the way down.

END HOUSE

END HOUSE

A house so dark and bleak
That I can’t even speak.
Dark shadows glare at me
Where clear windows should be.

Do I dare venture inside?
I’ll have to swallow my pride.
And quietly cross the threshold
Without being so rash and bold.

There’s a secret party inside.
I wonder if I should run or hide.
Who’s the host of this feast,
Man or dangerous beast?

THE LOCKED DOOR

thedeadgameblog:
Unlock the door and enter the room.
Step inside and see what’s hidden.
The dark secrets of the house will be revealed.
They can’t remain hidden forever.
What lies behind the walls and beneath the floors
must be revealed to the light of day.
It’s up to you to let the secrets free.

THE OUIJA BOARD

What can you conjure up in the dark?
Do you see ghosts or demons?
Evil creatures that come out at night.
That’s what I see when I close
my eyes for the night.
The shadows become
hands reaching for me.
The air conditioning becomes
the moaning of the wind.
The creaking of the house turns
into the whispers of the dead.
Falling asleep is fun time for me.

EXCERPT FROM THE DEAD GAME

How could a house have killer daisies? It could if it's End House; a house with The Dead in its walls and under its floors, and revolving rooms of horrors.

While she was fleeing for her life, Diane thought back to happier times at End House—at the beginning.
At first sight the house had seemed to be just another dark, run-down mansion left to decay into the ocean. However, after her initial visit Diane had already known that this house was special.
To visit End House was like visiting a page from the past: a joyous time of grand parties and luxurious lifestyles. An elegant staircase swept upward past marble pillars, cradling intricate statues of gargoyles.
The house was fit for a prince or a princess, which was how Diane had felt in her new home. The parlor was complete with elaborate moldings and a marble fireplace. It wasn’t furnished—none of the rooms were—but its past elegance was still apparent. An enormous crystal chandelier hung in the grand ballroom, filling the room with sparkling rainbows of light. The white marble staircase in the main hall had been her favorite part of the house, complete with opulent red carpeting running down its center. Descending these stairs had made her feel like an actress in a classic movie.
After the massive construction that she and her husband had conducted on the mansion over the past year, End House appeared beautiful once again. The spacious rooms had been repainted and modernized.  Red rose bushes and a thick forest of tall trees had been planted around the outdoor pool. The indoor pool had been updated with a sauna and Jacuzzi in a white-tiled room.
About two months ago, the mood of the house had turned malevolent. The staircase had flattened itself out during her descent, causing her to fly down their steep slope. Each day afterward brought with it another evil prank against her family.
In the middle of the night, she would often find herself
roaming through the wooded grounds—without any memory of how she’d gotten there. As she passed through doorways, she never knew which room she would be stepping into, since the rooms often switched locations. Once she’d walked into her daughter’s bedroom and had found herself in a flamboyant boudoir, furnished in red with ornate tables and brocade draperies from a long-gone era.
Yesterday her husband had entered their bedroom and had become lost in a field of daisies. It would have been a pleasant experience for him—if the daisies hadn’t transformed themselves into man-eating plants with long, sharp teeth. She’d found him running through the house, shrieking about killer daisies chasing after him. If she hadn’t been so afraid she would have found it funny, but nothing was ever funny about the house’s long list of evil pranks.
After his heart-stopping experience, John had agreed that it was time for them to pack up their belongings and leave their home.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 187

A barbeque on the beach, but Todd was still uncertain about the fate of Oasis. He was afraid that his friends weren't safe.

Chapter 34

Todd was reclining on a beach chair in the sand with a newspaper lying open on his lap. Mike and David were busy grilling the meat while Shana, Louise, and Linda were setting the table. They were joking with each other. But he still had a uneasy feeling deep inside. Their enemies had been taken care of and everyone was safe and here with him; however, he felt like one piece of the puzzle was still missing.
During the meal, Todd remained lost in thought. He couldn’t figure out how Wolf had always been one step ahead of him. His informants had always been already dead when he arrived to meet them. In addition, Diane kept security very tight at the secret meetings at her house, meticulously employing different private security companies each time, but dark, lurking shadows were always spotted at these events. Someone had to be leaking inside information to the followers of The Dead. He had told Linda and the others that their parties had never been infiltrated but unfortunately, they had been. In his defense, he had lied only because he didn’t want them to live in fear any longer of their own shadows.
Linda was watching him with a concerned expression on her face. He attempted to join in on the cheerful conversation but his attention kept wandering back to the unanswered questions still lingering in his mind. How had Shirley and her group controlled the Father’s actions when they’d been just newly turned vampires and therefore, not yet strong enough to possess such extensive powers of their own? Maybe someone else had pulled the Father’s strings…and everyone else’s strings in town. He would have to just wait and see: eventually this person would have to reveal his or her identity.

THE HAUNTED HOUSE

Haunted houses.
Who doesn’t love them?
When you step inside, the
darkness welcomes you.
It beseeches you to venture
further inside.
Empty rooms covered in dust.
Silence reigns supreme.
Then you see it.
Footsteps in the dust
that aren’t yours.
A wind blows by in a tightly
sealed room.
A soft moaning sound lingers
in the air.
Do you follow the footsteps?
Do you explore further?
The choice is all yours.
Follow your instincts.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 184

Linda and her friends were happy that Wolf had been vanquished. However, Mike and Todd knew that there was more to come. And it wasn't going to be anything good for them.

Mike was upset. To this group, a party seemed to be a cure-all for whatever ails you—even vampires. David looked happy again, wagging his long bushy tail with his new lion girlfriend batting her long eyelashes at him. And still, all was not resolved.
Everyone returned to their cars and rode back to town, weary but happy that all the evil in town had been stamped out of their lives for good. They had no idea that they’d all conveniently forgotten about the one person who still remained to ruin their perfectly laid plans.
