OPEN THE DOOR

1 Door

If you dare step inside,
there’ll be nowhere to hide.
A new dimension you’ll cross
on the back of a black horse.
Are you ready for this?
Lean in for my first kiss.

DROWNING IN THE BASEMENT

I’m drowning in a pool of water
in the basement of End House
Can this be an illusion?

A DEAD MAN’S DREAMS

Walk through the gates.
A palace awaits.
Deserted it may be,
nothing is free.
The marble floors sparkle with light
through rooms of magic & delight.
Rooms furnished from the past
come alive as we walk past.
A dead man’s dreams of hope,
a man with no life or scope.
Only in darkness, he may survive.
Too bad he’s dead & not alive.
He waits for the end of time
in a house built on a rhyme.

ILLUSION

A place of illusion.
Windswept nights.
Are your eyes deceiving you?
Has a waterfall appeared
where once stood a beach?
A river to replace an ocean.
Anything is possible.
If you believe in it.

FEEL IT

Does this place exist?
Is it an illusion?
I need palm trees.
My own oasis.
An escape from the world.
Empty of people.
I can see it.
Feel the hot sunshine.
Cold water on my toes.
A paradise so sweet.
Honey on my lips.
I’m there right now.
Don’t bother me.

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN

Off to the gingerbread house, we go
On this fine fall day.
The country road yawns before us,
Pointing the way with pebbled arms.
Shana is laughing up a storm,
Similar to the one building around us.
Swirling gusts lead us by the hand
To a cottage made not by man.
The house floats in a dewy gauze of its own,
Shielded from any attacks or storms.
It glistens and shimmers in the fading light
As we draw closer to its unfailing might.
The front door opens at our approach,
An extended arm our only invitation.
I want to leave but Shana says,
“Linda, let’s see who lives inside.”
Before I could answer she walks in,
Leaving me alone in the dying day.
Pebbles unearth themselves in my direction
Until I’m forced to seek shelter inside.
An older couple wait for us,
Wearing clothes from days long gone.
They show us around their unusual home,
Where rooms are shrines to their grown children.
We are led to the attic to find a lone rocking chair,
Facing the forest and deserted country road.
The woman explains they are The Watchers,
Protecting the town from errant vampires.
My ears are ringing and my heart is pounding
As I listen to her words in disbelief.
She says there’s always a Watcher
Sitting in the rocking chair.
We don’t know whether to believe her story
But the chair begins to rock on its own.
We flee the scene of our worst nightmare,
Determined never to return to this awful place.
Our games have just begun.

Lost in a field of daisies

Lost in a field of daisies.
Falling between the stalks.
Covered by their leaves.
Pulled down by their roots.
Darkness buries me.
Dirt envelopes me.
Illusion becomes reality.
A nightmare becomes hell.
No way out for me.
Only the faces of daisies.
THE DEAD love their games.

A Field of Flowers

Source:

Through a field of flowers.
Pink petals in my hair.
Follow the babbling brook.
At the mountains I stare.

Green grass for carpeting.
Wisps of white clouds float free.
White snow caps the mountains.
Grey rocks all I can see.

Grey surrounds oasis.
A mirage that can’t be.
Flowers lift their faces.
An illusion for me.

STRANGE

Why is there a big cat in my bedroom?
Am I awake or still sleeping?
It’s watching me.
Waiting for something.
Go away!
Oh no!
Now my clock has come to life.
Its eyes are ticking back and forth.
Is it my cat or my clock?
Stranger and stranger.
Cats.
There are cats everywhere.
Staring at me.
Help!
Do you feel a little strange?
Your eyes are blurry.
Kindly step away from the computer.

THE EVIL INSIDE

THE EVIL INSIDE
Can you feel the evil?
Spreading through town.
Moving through the trees.
Entering through open windows.
Spreading.
Enveloping us all.
It comes at night.
Into our beds.
Seeking the innocents.
Ones to join them.
In their deadly adventures.
Do not join them.
Stand strong.
Don’t let the evil enter.
Once it’s inside,
it won’t leave.
Until all are dead.

NIGHT

  1. Tigers pace in their cages.
    Waiting to be set free.
    Roars fill the basement.
    Leashes jangle against bars.
    This cannot be happening.
    This cannot be so.
    No way are there tigers
    in the basement below.

  2. A swarm of bats.
    Circling our heads.
    Nowhere to run.
    Nowhere to hide.
    A cave in a house.
    How can that be?
    In Oasis, Florida,
    Anything can be.

  3. by ehsan-safavie

    He comes in the night.
    Ready for the fight.
    He’ll slay us alive.
    No one will survive.
    His eyes burn blood red.
    Gleaming in his head.
He leads The Dead right to me.
I won’t go on bended knee.
    The creatures will be here.
    Their footsteps are too near.
I bow my head to pray.
Let us live one more day.
