TAME

Please, I want to go outside.
No reason for you to hide.
The winds bring rain.
But they are tame.

I won’t fall or melt
If hail were to pelt.
I’ll be forever in your debt
If you allow me to get wet.

I’m pulling on my chain.
You don’t need half a brain
To know I’m ready to go free.
See what a great pet I can be.

OUTSIDE

Please, I want to go outside.
No reason for me to hide.
The winds bring rain,
but they are tame.
I won’t fall or melt
if hail was to pelt.
I’ll be forever in your debt
if you allow me to get wet.
I’m pulling on my chain.

to know I’m ready to go free.
See what a great pet I can be.

LET THE WALLS CRUMBLE

2016

Let the walls crumble.
The paint flake and peel
I need to get out
from this prison of mine.
My fingers are torn.
Nails are shredded.
But I must destroy
this wall around me.
No one can understand
my fear, my panic.
No one can help me
escape my demons.
This I must do alone.
Brick by brick,
the wall will fall.
A glimpse of outside
is all I need.
The sky appears,
clouds floating by.
The sun peeks in,
not to be left out.
I’m ready to be free.
To fly from my captors.
First, my head,
then my body.
I’m outside on the ledge,
balanced over the city.
I’m free to let go
and soar over cars
and people.
Join the tiny dots below.
Time to fly.

OUTSIDE

From inside my dark room,
I watch the clouds float by.
Puffy cottonballs in the sky.
Dare I leave my safe haven
and venture outside?
Will the clouds wait for me?
I’ll wait until tomorrow.
One more day of watching.

From inside my dark room,
I watch the clouds float by.
Puffy cottonballs in the sky.
Dare I leave my safe haven
and venture outside?
Will the clouds wait for me?
I’ll wait until tomorrow.
One more day of watching.

LET THE LIGHT IN

Source:

My mind is foggy today.
I need to clear the cobwebs.
Throw out the excess garbage.
The bad thoughts.
The worries.
All to the wind.
And think of a pretty place.
Where the birds chirp and play.
Where the mountains soar high.
Where windows bring in the light.
I can lift my face to the sun.
To the beauty of life.
To the smell of grass.
To the puffy white clouds.
I’m there right now.
Come and join me.

THE GRIM REAPER

Something is waiting for me.
Outside my front door.
I can sense its presence.
Can it be death?
Am I ready for it?
No one can be ready.
It comes for us when
we are the least prepared.
If I shut the door,
will it go away?
It’s moving closer to the house,
smacking repeatedly against the window.
Bang.
Bang.
I peek out.
A branch from the tree
is waving in the breeze.
This time I was lucky.
What about the next time?
I better be ready.

ONE MORE DAY

From inside my dark room,
I watch the clouds float by.
Puffy cottonballs in the sky.
Dare I leave my safe haven
and venture outside?
Will the clouds wait for me?
I’ll wait until tomorrow.
One more day of watching.

OUTSIDE MY DOOR

“Institute Benjamenta” (1995)
dir. Timothy Quay, Stephen Quay

Has he come for me?
I hear his footsteps.
Walking up the steps.
All turns quiet.
The leaves stop rustling.
The wind stops blowing.
The silence is overpowering.
A strangle hold on my nerves.
Is he standing outside the door?
Waiting for me to open it.
I won’t.
I won’t let him in.
He wants me.
I won’t become one of The Dead.

PERCEPTION

Do you feel like you have a separate person inside?
A different person than the one portrayed to the world?
Do you feel young with an older person peeking out?
Or are you an old person with a younger one inside?
I’ve always felt like the same little girl inside.
My body ages but inside I’m the same.
I have the same thoughts and feelings.
I might deal with them in a more mature manner
but maybe not.

LEAVE THE DARKNESS BEHIND

aberrantbeauty:
Alice Svane
Let the sunshine in.
Don’t live in darkness and despair.
Bring light into your life.
It can be done.
Just open the window.
Breathe in the fresh air.
Allow the bad thoughts and
feelings to leave your body.
Go outside.
Leave the darkness behind.
You won’t be disappointed.

TOO MUCH T.V.?

Watching a little too much T.V.?
Sitting in front of the computer
for too many hours?
Are your eyes bugging out?
Take a break and go outside.
Life might be passing you by.
