TOO OFTEN

TOO OFTEN

Too often, there are deaths.
Too often, there are murders.
Too often, we stop and stare.
Too often, people look away.
Sad, but true.
Human nature possesses an evil side,
which tempts us each day.
Its flipside offers us a way to achieve
purer thoughts and good deeds.
Which path will lead to a better world?
Too often, we make the wrong choice.

LIGHT THE WAY

The bright lights of a city.
The excitement.
The noise.
It entices you.
It takes you on a ride.
Holiday time like no other.
Light the way.

RIDE THE TRAIN

RIDE THE TRAIN

I ride the train each day.
For this, I need to pay?

No seat I can see.
Never is one free.

I hang from the strap above.
A soft sigh feels like a dove.

I turn my head to the side.
And do you know what I find?

A girl standing next to me.
One as pretty as can be.

She offers a small smile.
Now I could walk a mile.

I stand taller than before.
I am ten feet off the floor.

A slight smile before she departs.
I’m left happy as my day starts.

COME HOME TO ME

Source:

Tall windows to let in the day.
The sun rises and shoots its ray.

I watch people saunter by,
peek into windows up high.

I’m as happy as I can be
to let the world come home to me.

FILL THE PAGES

FILL THE PAGES

Fill the pages of our lives
with words and stories.
Leave no blank pages.
Fill them with people and events.
Stories to tell our children.
Words to light our journeys.
We need to stand in the light.
Enjoy life to its fullest.
It is our right to fill in the pages.

CROWDS OF PEOPLE

Crowds of people.
Cars honking.
People shoving.
Where are they going?
A blur to me.
A mass of humanity.
Hurrying to their end.
No individuality.
No manners.
Only a need to get somewhere fast.
Trapped in their thoughts.
In a hurry to go nowhere.

ESCAPE HATCH

ESCAPE HATCH

An escape hatch is what we all need.
A way to run away from it all.
I’m leaving no matter what you plead.
I want and need to feel ten feet tall.
I know life can take your breath away.
It can also deaden your dark heart.
Last time I felt right, I cannot say.
But I’m tired of playing this part.
A new journey is waiting for me.
New people and places to explore.
No baggage to take along with me.

I’ll travel until I don’t want more.

A PICTURE OF LIFE

It’s Never Too Late To Learn ðŸ™‚

A picture of life inside.
A window so hard to find
Of laughter and love
Would fit like a glove.
Soft music I can hear.
I want to be right there
With the people having fun
Lit up orange like the sun.

LET THE WORLD COME TO ME

Nothing can get past me.

I’m as happy as I can be.

SILENCE

SILENCE

In a world of noise
Where no one is heard,
We could use some silence.
A bit of quiet.

Take a step back
And be quiet.
Watch for the response.
See the surprise.

For silence can convey
What words cannot.
A feeling or a thought
To be lost in words.

Don’t be afraid
To make your stand.
To be different.
Refusing to mouth inanities.

Be a breath of fresh air
In the violent storm.
Standing strong and silent
In the wake of it all.

WHAT IF

  1. WHAT IF

What if the sun exploded one day?
The day began as all others.
And then the sun kept getting larger.
    Hotter.
    Steamier.
    Until it exploded.
Hot fire balls fell to earth.
The rest were absorbed into space.
    Once the fires were extinguished,
    darkness fell across the earth.
The moon wasn’t ready to come out yet.
    Who would save the earth?
    Warm the earth.
Provide the needed sunshine for plants
    and all living things.
    The moon stepped forward.
It puffed up to appear larger.
It blew out steam to warm the earth.
    "You’re hired," mankind shouted.
    The moon replaced the sun.
    Twenty four hours a day.
    No time off.
    No rest.
    But a lot of grumbling.
So we ask: What if the sun exploded?
    We would be in trouble.
Stuck with the moon for sunshine.
Sun, we bow down to you.
