GOODBYE

Time is ticking away.

I fear I cannot stay.

Goodbyes must be fast,

And soon in the past.

My train is on the track.

I didn’t have time to pack.

So sad to leave today,

But what is there to say?

Goodbye, my dear for now

As I take my last bow.

RIDE THE TRAIN

RIDE THE TRAIN

I ride the train each day.
For this, I need to pay?

No seat I can see.
Never is one free.

I hang from the strap above.
A soft sigh feels like a dove.

I turn my head to the side.
And do you know what I find?

A girl standing next to me.
One as pretty as can be.

She offers a small smile.
Now I could walk a mile.

I stand taller than before.
I am ten feet off the floor.

A slight smile before she departs.
I’m left happy as my day starts.

NOUNOUS--THE IMPATIENT MALTESE

My favorite picture of my Maltese, Nounous.
He is waiting for my daughter
to come home from New York City.
The train whistles.
He searches for the train.
He waits impatiently by the car window.
The train pulls into the station.
The doors pass by, one by one.
They are moving too fast for him
to see his beloved friend.
The train stops.
The doors open.
He sees her.
He howls,
pawing at the window.
He is still not sure.
He's waiting for her to walk closer.
She stops beside the car window
and shouts,"Nounous I'm home."
He jumps up and down,
woofing with joy.
She is home.

WAITING FOR THE TRAIN

What are you thinking, my best friend?
Are you waiting for her
to come home from school?
Are you worried that she
won't be coming home?
Do you hear the sound
of the train whistle?
Are you getting excited?
Will life be better for you
in the next few minutes?
Life is perfect when family is all together.
Is that what you're thinking?
Yes, I think it is.

NOUNOUS--THE IMPATIENT MALTESE

This is my favorite picture of my Maltese, Nounous.
He is waiting for the LIRR to bring my daughter home from New York City.
He hears the train whistle but can't see a train.
He becomes impatient.
He sits at the window, waiting.
As the train pulls into the station, he watches the doors pass by.
They are moving too fast for him to see his beloved friend.
The train stops.
The doors open.
Watching and waiting, he sees her.
He begins to howl, pawing at the window.
He is still not sure.
He has to wait for her to come closer.
It looks like her, but he can't tell.
She is beside the car window and shouts,"Nounous I'm home."
He jumps up and down, woofing with joy.
She is home.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?

The scenery is soothing. Snow covers the ground and trees, like a white blanket. But then in the middle of it all, a train charges down the track emitting smoke and noise.
We need trains but they do ruin the pretty picture.
