WALK IN SHADOW
Who waits in the dark? Stalking its victims. Blending with the night. Walking in shadow. Lighter than air. One with the mist. Never seen. Never caught. Leaving death behind. Traces of evil. Evil wrought on the town. Who are you? Come out in the light. I know you can’t. I know what you are. Creature of the night. Come to me. And your time on earth will end. For I protect the town. I protect the innocent. Come out of the shadows. And face me. All will know who you are. The leader of The Dead. Your time is at end.
The skyline looks clear. I can see all the buildings. Then one day comes and ruins all days to come. Intruders invade our space and destroy our twin towers. The towers that we love. Towers that we grew up with. Towers that we’ve worked in. Goodbye to my precious towers, holding the innocents of the day. Goodbye to all. Never again will our skyline be blotted. It will remain clear and free forever more. A solemn promise.
I will grow in the garden of End House. I am the only thing growing around this deserted house. But I will continue to do so, no matter what evil takes controls of this house. The garden is mine.
I’m keeping an eye on you. Have you read The Dead Game yet? If not, I know where you live.
As darkness falls on Oasis, the statues come alive. Shadows emerge from tombs and graves. The Dead wake up to haunt the town. Who is their leader? Who is responsible for all the deaths and disappearances? Who is playing the deadly game with the innocent residents? Read The Dead Game by Susanne Leist to find out.
Read a book and you’ll never know what will pop up from the page. Dragons, monsters, and lovers might fill your imagination. You will never be alone again.
Linda and Shana were investigating their friends’ disappearance from
the mysterious party at End House. They extended their search to include
the deserted mansion and the quaint gingerbread house, both located on
the dirt road leading from town.
They walked outside into
the brilliant sunshine. Shana proposed another idea that had Linda
sighing unhappily to herself. “Let’s continue interviewing people: we
could take a walk down the gravel road, and even swing by the pretty bed
and breakfast.”
“We can’t come back too
late, because Todd will be waiting for me. Although it is nice outside
for a brisk walk…” Linda looked around at all the residents and tourists
who were out and about, enjoying the beautiful day. She nodded hello to
people along the way, including her friends, Ralph and Lewis, who were
bartenders at the Oasis Hotel. They lived in another town and commuted
every day to work. It would benice, for once,to be like everyone else and simply enjoyan innocent stroll through town.
They followed Main Street
until it ended at the sheriff’s office. A narrow dirt road led the rest
of the way from town. It ran past the bed and breakfast and the huge
isolated mansion, before it curved farther inland to join the bustling
highway.
This picture perfectly represents the scene where the young
residents of Oasis entered End House for the first time.
The deserted house stood alone at the edge of a steep
cliff overlooking the ocean. No one was there to greet them except
absolute quiet and darkness. It was supposed to have been a surprise
party for them, but there was no host to greet them. There were no other
guests. In the main hallway, a marble staircase faced them.
Candles were lit on the staircase and along the house’s right hallway,
daring them to venture farther into the house. The split up into two
groups: the first group followed the candles downstairs; while the
second group climbed the staircase to check out the upstairs. What lay ahead for this group of friends? Will they
make it out alive from this house? Who is the mysterious host who had
planned this fake party? Will there be games for them to play? And if
so, will these games be innocent or deadly? Read “The Dead Game” by Susanne Leist to find these answers and much more.
So many decisions. Should I walk up the stairs? Should I peek into the window? Should I see if the door is locked? Do you think anyone is home? Just go in already. The Dead have been waiting for you. The more innocent the better.
