A SOLEMN PROMISE

World Trade Center

The skyline is clear.
Buildings stand tall and bright.
Then a day arrives that
ruins every day to come.
Intruders invade our space
and destroy our twin towers.
Towers I love.
Towers where I had worked.
Goodbye, my precious towers.
Never again will our skyline be invaded.
It shall remain clear forever.
A solemn promise.

BEFORE

World Trade Center

The skyline was beautiful before.
Hope was present before.
Brotherhood was keenly felt before.
Life was pure and simple.
Death wasn’t an everyday concern.
Before.

A RAY OF HOPE

A ray of hope in a dark world.
A belief in freedom.
And justice.
For all.
No exceptions.
No conditions.
Open arms.
Waiting.
Stay true.
Stay hopeful.

A SOLEMN PROMISE

A SOLEMN PROMISE

World Trade Center

The skyline looks clear.
I can see all the buildings.
Then one day comes and
ruins all days to come.
Intruders invade our space
and destroy our twin towers.
The towers that we love.
Towers that we grew up with.
Towers that we’ve worked in.
Goodbye to my precious towers,
holding the innocents of the day.
Goodbye to all.
Never again will our skyline be blotted.
It will remain clear and free forever more.
A solemn promise.
