WHAT DO YOU SEE?

WHAT DO YOU SEE?
The mind is complex.
It stores information.
It reasons.
It’s also creative.
I see a butterfly and its shadow.
What do you see?

MOON SHADOW

MOON SHADOW
I live in the shadow of the moon.
I have grown and sprouted much too soon.
I will try with all my might
To live in the bright sunlight.
I close my eyes but yet I’m still here.
Sitting on a branch next to a pear.
My petals are white as snow
Because of this fact I know.
I will never be awake at day
No matter how hard I wish and pray.
For I live in the shadow of the moon
And I’m slated to sing the nightly tune.

DARK OF NIGHT

A shadow appears.
Dark as the night.
Moving closer.
Encompassing all.
An opening hole.
Of death and despair.
The grass trembles.
Flattened by its footsteps.
Beneath its terrible burden.
But it’s too late.
It’s here.
But I’m not.

THE RIGHT MOMENT

He is watching the town.
Peeking into the windows.
Shadowing the residents.
Waiting for the right moment.
For his return.

INVISIBLE ME

A ghost of me

Some days I feel strong and empowered,
ready to face the challenges
life throws at me.
Other days I feel invisible,
a transparent copy of myself,
feeling my life fade away.
How do I remain strong?
My transparent self
needs to be reminded
of all the people
who rely on it.
It flickers.
It becomes solid.
It becomes strong once again.

WALK IN SHADOW

undying-orchid:
Row of Trees (1915) by Jan Mankes (Dutch, 1889—1920).

WALK IN SHADOW

Who waits in the dark?
Stalking its victims.
Blending with the night.
Walking in shadow.
Lighter than air.
One with the mist.
Never seen.
Never caught.
Leaving death behind.
Traces of evil.
Evil wrought on the town.
Who are you?
Come out in the light.
I know you can’t.
I know what you are.
Creature of the night.
Come to me.
And your time on earth will end.
For I protect the town.
I protect the innocent.
Come out of the shadows.
And face me.
All will know who you are.
The leader of The Dead.
Your time is at end.

WALK WITH ME MY LOVELY

Follow me my lovely
down the path by the river.
Together we shall explore
the quiet and solitude.
No one to bother us.
No noise to startle us.
Only the lapping of
the water against the pier.
We will walk together
to unknown adventures.
We will see what life
may hold for us.
Too bad you are just a ghost.
A shadow of your former self.
But we will still be together.
Forever.

A SOFT SHADOW IN THE WIND

A beautiful castle.
Could it be haunted?
Do people live there?
What about the people
who lived there in the past?
Are their memories alive in the walls?
Do ghosts wander the halls at night?
In my imagination, they do.
They come back to relive their pasts.
Sounds of laughter and music
can be heard in the night air.
Moonlight shines on their auras.
Auras that remain for years to come.
Sounds good to me.
I want to be remembered like that.
A soft shadow in the wind that
returns at night to see the moon.

THE DEAD GAME--EXCERPT--DAY 14

THE DEAD GAME–EXCERPT–DAY 14

THE DEAD GAME--EXCERPT--DAY 14

All of a sudden her store and everything around her became dead quiet. She could no longer hear the crickets making their special chirping sounds outside. No wind could be heard rustling through the leaves. No sounds were coming from the waves crashing against the shore.
She hurried to close her register and lock up for the night. She wanted to walk home before it got too dark outside, before the menacing shadows appeared on the empty streets and in the quiet alleyways. She was beginning to sound like Shana, with all her evil premonitions about town.
As she stepped out from her store, Linda glimpsed from the corner of her eye a dark shadow flying down toward her. It was coming from the sky! She ducked down low to the ground. Covering her head with her hands, lying prone on the pavement, she was not able to see anything, but only felt something fly by very close to her head. She waited a few seconds and then stood up. She didn’t see any sign of anyone or anything.
As she ran down the shaded walkway, a strong wind kicked up out of nowhere. The trees began to sway, throwing their leaves at her. Linda raced even faster until she bumped headfirst into Todd, who was strolling in the opposite direction.
Todd stepped back and looked into her eyes. “Why are you wandering around alone? There are evil things lurking in the dark…ready to pounce on unsuspecting mortals.”
His eyes were open very wide, revealing a wild—maybe even deranged—look. For a fleeting second she was afraid of him, until she realized that it was only extreme concern she was seeing reflected in his dark eyes. She has heard weird things before, but this was way out of the ballpark of normal.
“What’s your problem? Why are you freaking out on me?”
“It’s always good to be careful and not to tempt fate,” he said, “that’s why we are going to the party together.”
“I’m only going to the party with you since Shana has made me promise to stick by your side like glue.”
“That sounds promising. I’ll pick you up on Friday night,” he replied in a soft voice. “But first I’ll walk you home. There’s an eerie feeling in the air tonight.”
