ALONE IN THE DARK

Source: slobbering

Who sits and waits in the darkness?
There is no movement in the blackness.
As still as a fox waiting to pounce,
No hint of a ruffle or a flounce.

A soft sigh can be heard in the air.
Are those slithering snakes in her hair?
Shadows shift through the circling dust
As the walls trickle with blood or rust.

The ghostly form stands tall to meet us.
She can be the hostess to greet us.
A deserted house this seems to be.
She hovers over us like a tree.

We stand alone in this bleak hall.
There won’t be dancing at this ball.
This was a silly lark.
Then the candles go dark.

Time to leave this creepy place.
We must quicken our snail’s pace.
But since this is a horror story,
We will not be leaving with glory.

THE WOMAN IN THE SHADOWS

Woman in the Shadows

Each night a woman appears.
Her shadow floats across the dimly lit garden.
The wind whistles in her wake.
One night, she doesn’t appear.
What happened to her?
I still wait.

LADY OF THE NIGHT

Lady of the night.
So sad.
Drifting through time.
Lost.
Waiting.
Watching.
Alone.
Forever.

A GHOST OF ME

One day life changed for me.
And all I had taken for granted
was gone in a second.
How will I go on living?
There is no one here on the bench,
but a ghost of me.

ARE WE EVER ALONE?

 World of Darkness

Are we ever alone?
Do we carry with us
the spirits of the past;
the loved ones who
have passed?
I can feel them
and sometimes see them.
Can you?

A TOUCH

Henri Martin, Mystic Scene, 1895

In the quiet,
There is a hum,
A whispering sound.
A pitch too high to hear.
A touch too light to feel.
We are never alone.

BUT A GHOST OF ME

No automatic alt text available.

My life has taken a downward spiral.
All I have taken for granted
is gone in a second.
A fleeting memory
of good times gone by.
Leaving me in a vacuum
of my own despair.
To wander the nights alone.
Voices filling my head.
Ice in my veins.
No one is left
but a ghost of me.

A GHOST OF ME

I sit on the bench,
watching the sun take flight,
and the moon move to position.
The stars begin to shine
in the darkening sky.
All is well with the world.
The night will soon be here.
But all is not well with me.
I feel light.
I feel empty.
I feel transparent.
A ghost of my former self.
What has happened to me?
How will I go on?
One day life changed for me.
And all I had taken for granted
was gone in a second.
How will I go on living?
There is no one here on the bench,
but a ghost of me.

NO SECOND CHANCES

I reach for you.
I can’t touch you.
You are gone.
I must accept this.
There’s no coming back.
No second chances.

A SIGH OF NIGHT

Epiphanie © Etienne Cabran

It’s here.
Too near.
A mist of white.
A sigh of night.
Through the window.
“You friend or foe?”
A cold touch of ice.
Doesn’t feel too nice.
It now whispers away,
“You’re not welcome to stay.”
I’m leaving now.
I don’t care how.
Fingers wrap around my neck.
On my cheek I feel a peck.
Could that be a kiss?
Wasn’t hard to miss.
I’m chilled to the bone.
I’ve turned to cold stone.

INVISIBLE ME

A ghost of me

Some days I feel strong and empowered,
ready to face the challenges
life throws at me.
Other days I feel invisible,
a transparent copy of myself,
feeling my life fade away.
How do I remain strong?
My transparent self
needs to be reminded
of all the people
who rely on it.
It flickers.
It becomes solid.
It becomes strong once again.

WALK WITH ME MY LOVELY

Follow me my lovely
down the path by the river.
Together we shall explore
the quiet and solitude.
No one to bother us.
No noise to startle us.
Only the lapping of
the water against the pier.
We will walk together
to unknown adventures.
We will see what life
may hold for us.
Too bad you are just a ghost.
A shadow of your former self.
But we will still be together.
Forever.

THE SCARY GHOST

blackoutraven:
♥️👻
I try so hard to scare people.
I stick people in the walls of a house.
A house that sits on the edge of a cliff.
The cliff that overlooks sharp rocks.
Rocks that are being beaten by raging waves.
Waves that are brought forth by an angry ocean.
An ocean that’s made dark by the great storm.
The storm that is coming toward the town of Oasis, Florida.
The town where the haunted house is located.
The one at the edge of the cliff.
You can see where I’m going with this.
So “Boo!”
Are you scared yet?
I am and I’m the ghost.
