THE HALLWAY

Green Hallway

The hallway awaits.

It beckons.

It calls.

Doors line either side.

Shrill cries fill the air.

Cold creeps into my bones.

Then silence descends.

I peek into the first room.

Empty wheelchairs face me.

Except for one.

It turns, rolls to me,

then stops.

I freeze.

The lights flash.

A table appears at the far wall.

A bright surgical light hangs above.

The men in white coats face me.

I open my mouth to scream.

I'm strapped to the table.

The men in white peer at me.

A drill whirls next to my ear.

I struggle against the thick straps.

The room goes black.

STAND AND FIGHT

No one can hear
our screams of fear.
As the clock strikes midnight
we prepare to take flight.
Soon human blood will pour.
There’s nothing left to live for
unless we stand and fight
with all our hearts and might.

THE CANDLE FLICKERS

The candle flickers.
The music plays softly.
In an empty house.
The piano keys pound faster.
The wind screams louder.
The games are about to begin.

FLORIDA WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

Florida never be same

The Dead have taken over.
It’s now time to take cover.
No one can hear
Our screams of fear.
When the clock strikes midnight
We prepare to take flight.
The elders can’t save us anymore.
Very soon blood and guts will pour.
Our paradise is no more.
There’s nothing left to live for
Unless we stand up and fight
With all our hearts and might.

A FOREST SO GREEN

Let’s travel through the forest so green.
A creature-filled oasis but don’t scream.
The roots tangle around our feet.
Walking becomes a scary feat.
Neon leaves hit our faces.
A hit every few paces.
I’m sinking deep into the forest floor.
Quicksand my enemy forever more.

TIME KILLS

  1. Source:

    Time kills.
    The Dead play no favorites.
    We all become their victims.
    Prey for their games.
    Cages to entrap us.
    One door leading to
    the next deadly door.
    Welcome.
    THE DEAD GAME

  2. The candle flickers.
    The music plays softly.
An empty room stands before us.
    The piano keys pound faster.
    The wind screams louder.
The games are about to begin.
    THE DEAD GAME

  3. The house welcomes us.
    It plays music for us.
    The keys dance.
    The walls moan.
    Traps await.
    A long night ahead.

THE CREEPING LIQUID

Mysterious under-door seepages – “I Do” (1921)
The creeping liquid from my nightmares.
It’s alive in my book, THE DEAD GAME.
Excerpt from THE DEAD GAME
They raced down the staircase, carrying their children, eager to reach the front door. Mary stopped dead in her tracks. A dark red substance was oozing into the house from under the door, creeping across the floor, devouring everything in its wake. They watched as the huge circular rug and the large hall table disappeared into its thick slime. Extending its reach farther out, it made its way toward them.
A high-pitched keening cry was coming from within the slime. She backed herself into a corner. “It’s going to swallow us.”
“Run out the back!” John shouted above the children’s frightened sobbing. He pushed her ahead of him. “Don’t think. Just make sure you get out of this house and down the stairs to the beach. Or else you might be living here forever.”
They climbed through the destroyed kitchen, through detached pieces of ceiling, through broken pieces of cabinets and sharp shards from shattered dishes.
Once outside, they were struck by flying debris. The patio was engulfed in a strong wind, which lifted the furniture high into the air. The white wicker pieces crashed against each other, the broken pieces falling into the empty pool.
The pool had been filled already twice that season. The house had a mind of its own: it wanted the pool empty of water and her family gone; and it was making sure that it remained that way.
The red liquid was creeping out beneath the kitchen door, inching its way toward them. She screamed above the sound of the howling wind. “It’s getting closer. It’s followed us outside. WE ARE ALL DEAD!”
“We must escape now. Don’t look back. Just run.” John pulled on her arm.
She gazed down the steep staircase to the rocky shore below, to the jagged rocks that were being beaten by the raging waves of the ocean. In her heart, she knew that their fate was not going to be much better.

THE LIGHT

Source:

Should I walk to the light?
Could be an illusion.
Or will I fall tonight?

I can’t seem to stay away.
My body move on its own.
I seem to be here to stay.

The earth’s rumbling.
The ground is moving.
And I’m stumbling.

THE DEAD wait below.
I can hear their screams,
Their shouts of hello.

THE DARK FOREST

Come and visit.
Follow the line of trees.
Where do you think it leads?
Deep into a forest.
Down a dark road to a haunted house.
You will never know unless you start walking.
Ignore the moans and screams, it’s just the animals.
The howling are from a pack of wild dogs.
They like people very much.
It is safe to walk farther on.
Don’t look back, face forward, and walk.
Soon you’ll be reaching your destination.
Be prepared for anything.
Don’t be afraid.

Anything is a possibility.
Come and visit us.
Follow the line of trees.
Where does it lead?
Deep into a forest.
Down a dark road.

Ignore the moans and screams.
They are just animals.
A pack of wild dogs are howling.
They love people.
It is safe for you to walk into the forest.
Don’t look back.

Face forward and walk.
Soon you’ll be reaching your destination.
Be prepared for anything.
Don’t be afraid.

A party at the deserted End House
is waiting for you.
And so are The Dead.

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN --- THE DEAD GAME --- PART 25

Hit me in the face with your bruising fingers.
Drown out my screams with your unearthly howl.
Throw me face first into the sand with your anger.
But I will not give up on my quest for the truth.

The world has turned upside down on its axis.
Nature lies in the hands of The Dead and gone.
The wind stakes its claim with its leafy fingers.
Thunder and lightning follow close in its wake.

What was once an oasis now stands ready for battle.
Ready to erase mankind from its memory.
Evil walks with the moon and stars.
It frolics in the dark waters of the night.

Leaves break free to dance in the moonlight
To the moaning melody of the thrashing winds.
The waves rise in prayer for the their leader,
Who has returned to wage the final battle.

Wolf has appeared in my nightly dreams.
This time I will resist his deadly charms.
I refuse to join in his quest to destroy mankind.
I will never bow down to him as ruler.

The forest forms a tighter ring around me.
Tall trees bearing down on me from all sides.
They block out the sun's face from me,
Allowing the moon full reign.

End House has stood on this desolate spot.
Now overgrown with weeds and rocks.
I must find the door buried below
Before more of Wolf's kind can enter our world.

The ground withstands my shovel's strikes,
Protecting the treasure hidden below.
Tunnels of darkness extend beneath the forest,
Hiding tales of murder and revenge.

Sounds of footsteps echo in my ears.
Shadows fall upon the dug up dirt.
They continue to advance and multiply around me.
I am no longer alone in my own shadow.

The shovel trembles in my shaking fingers.
One last swipe before I give up my task.
I look up to find familiar faces.
Faces of my friends who've come to help.
