FROM THE DEEP

Wave From the Deep

They come from the deep.

They come when you sleep.

On waves of ice and stone,

They’ll burn you to the bone.

Fire burns hot on the ice

As demons cut a deep slice.

Stay far from the shore,

Or they’ll search for more.

TRAVEL WITH ME

window exit

chairs on beach

From here I can see
the wonderful sea.
I step through the door
and stand at the shore.
The sand is soft beneath my feet.
I’m sure I’ve found a pleasant treat.
Then a metal door swipes across the sky,
removing the sunshine from the blue sky.
Trapped in a replica of my town,
I watch the sand turn a shade of brown.
The longed-for peace won’t be won
since I’ve trusted the wrong one.

THE DEAD BY THE SEA

THE DEAD BY THE SEA
Come with me to the pool by the sea.
Oasis is the best place to be.

THE DEAD BY THE SEA
Come with me to the pool by the sea.
Oasis is the best place to be.
Relax by the pool or sit by the bar.
Tourists visit this place from near and far.
The sky turns cloudy and dark.
I see shadows by the park.
What’s that standing behind you?
It’s not one shadow but two.
Shadows come ashore.
I won’t wait for more.
Our destiny seems to be in this book.
I’m leaving now without a second look.

LIGHTNING STRIKES

lightning strikes

In deep and soothing sleep,
I did not hear one peep.
Then lightning lit the sky
with thunder turned high.
Winds uprooted the trees,
bringing them to their knees.
What has happened to the town?
The waves have turned a dark brown.
Shadows creep from the shore.
I can’t handle much more.

A FORCE

Source:

Waves hit the rocks
with frozen blocks.
They plow through the sand,
sharp claws in their hand.
They ravage the shore,
coming back for more.
A battle with no end.
A force we cannot bend.

RED IN ITS ANGER

The storm approaches the shore.
A spray of water hits my face.
The salty breeze lifts tendrils of hair.
Palm trees sway and bend.
The sand ripples
from the increasing wind.
Birds flee for safety.
Waves crash against the rocks.
The sky darkens to red in its anger,
raining tears across the land and sea.
When will it end?
Once the sky calms,
the sun will shine.
The birds will return.
The tantrum will be over.

I WALK

Purple sprays my face.
Orange blinds my eyes.
Ice coats my toes.
Salt whips my hair.
I shut my eyes and walk.
My heels dig into the wet sand.
I move deeper into the water.
Waves attack my shivering body.
I waver for a moment.
Then I continue my journey.
I slit my eyes open.
The sky burns red.
The sun has lowered its face.
I stand in icy water in muted colors of amber.
Time to return to the shore.
Or not.
I continue to walk.

CLOSER TO THE BLUE

CLOSER TO THE BLUE

Puffy clouds appear far and few
In the aqua sky so brand new.
I sink deeper into the white sand,
My heart beating like a marching band.

If I close my eyes tight,
will I see paradise this night?
It takes me back to the time
When everything had been fine.

Fantasy, I beseech thee.
Return me so I can roam free.
Take me back to the shore.
Where I’d been happy before.
