EVIL AS SIN

Klaus

Last breath

Klaus from The Originals reminds of Charles Wolf from THE DEAD GAME Series.
Both are evil as sin. A little imagination goes a long way.

REVIEW OF THE DEAD GAME

image

Vampires and Humans- my favorite kinda story

By Jalpa Pandya “jae”on November 3, 2014

Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase

In some ways, The Dead Game reminded me of the Vampire Diaries. Personally, I really enjoy Vampire Diaries so I enjoyed this book. There are evil vampires, good vampires, human vampires, and humans. This story takes place in a small town and the main character, Linda, becomes suspicious that something doesn’t seem right. She and her friends end up in the End House, which is “haunted.” They are barely able to get out of there that night. Things really get crazy when their friends are missing, and dead bodies are found.
This is a fast moving story, with every page full of surprises. There are a lot of characters, but I have to admit that my favorite was Todd. He was very intriguing and luckily, he was a fierce protector of the main girl, Linda.
Todd and Linda’s relationship is a bit confusing, but the author has a nice epilogue at the end that gives the readers closure. The author also hints at a sequel, so I’m looking forward to see what happens next!

THE DEAD ARE BEHIND ME!

Dark shadows have been stalking me
every single night.
As soon as the sun sets,
dark shadows appear on the streets
of Oasis.
I can’t escape from them.
Now I have one following me.
It’s followed me from End House.
I knew I shouldn’t have
attended that party.
The party from hell, where
no one was there to greet us
but deadly traps and revolving rooms.
Just when I thought I was safe,
and free from End House,
I have one of them chasing me.
What are they?
Or shall I say, who are they?
They are The Dead.
And they’ve come for all of us.
I can hear it behind me.
Help me!
THE DEAD take no prisoners.

5 STAR REVIEW OF THE DEAD GAME

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful to Boot! January 29, 2014
By Hawk
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Let me begin by saying I read all genres, but my preferred genre is steamy romances, the steamier, the better. Ghostly mystery is not my thing, but The Dead Game has won me over. Could it be because it had a bit of romance thrown in? Hmmm. The book is full of suspense, lots of twists and turns that had me practically bouncing in my seat. Who is the controller already? Who’s peeking in the window? If you are looking for a great supernatural thriller, with some romance thrown in then The Dead Game is it!
I love it when people have fun reading my book. That was my reason for writing it.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 110

The town of Oasis was becoming dangerous at night for the residents. Dark shadows were stalking the young people. Linda and her friend, Shana, had to find out what was happening to their town before more of their friends disappeared.

“The only one remaining is Shirley. At least she likes to talk and gossip about everyone,” said Linda.
“We still don’t know if this is the real Shirley, or just a good cover.” Shana looked over her shoulder and made one of her creepy faces.
“You’re beginning to sound like one of my mystery books. Now I won’t have to read them because we are faced with a mystery of our own.” Linda signed before opening the door to Shirley’s store.
“I’m just becoming more cynical and paranoid,” replied Shana.
Shirley looked genuinely happy to see them: jumping up, directing them to sit at her couch. Her office was homey-looking and she always acted very grandmotherly to them.
“I’m so happy to see you girls. I hardly ever get visitors.” Shirley was looking nervous for some reason.
“Are you attending Diane’s party? I hope it turns out better than that dreadful party at End House,” asked Linda.
“We weren’t invited to this party, but we really wanted to be at one of Diane’s famous events,” added Shana.
“All of Diane’s parties turn out so nice. Both of you can come as my guests. We dress up, eat, and dance. What could be bad about that?”
“We’d love to join you,” Shana said and then politely asked, “Should we pick you up on the way?”
“You can pick me up at 8:45 at my store,” answered Shirley very sweetly. Maybe too sweetly. She seemed very eager to have them as her guests—almost as if she had thought about this before and had something planned for them. Now I’m the one being paranoid: Shirley has never done anything to make us doubt her innocence before.
“We’ll see you tomorrow night,” said Linda before leaving the store.

THE DEAD GAME — DAY 100

THE DEAD GAME — DAY 100

Chapter 17

Todd dropped them off at Linda’ apartment. He warned both of them to remain inside for the remainderof the day. They fled from hiscar without answering him. Great, now he had them afraid of him.
With them safe at home, he was free to investigate the End House party on his own. First, he wanted to question Ryan, Gregg, and Judy about their abrupt disappearance from Friday night’s party, which brought their loyalty into question.
He drove down Main Street, making a sharp left turn by the town hall, taking the narrow, paved road to the Oasis Hotel. The road was lined with overhanging palm trees, creating a leafy archway and an illusion of an oasis. But unfortunately, he knew better.
He drove up the hotel’s circular driveway, past the colorful garden of flowers, spelling out the words “Oasis Hotel.” The pretty pink hotel came into view with its rust colored Spanish roof and tall floor-to-ceiling sparkling clear windows. He left his car with the valet and entered the hotel through the lavish entrance, with its high rounded open archways, breezy ceiling fans, and lush palm trees.
The hotel was bustling with activity: people were checking in and out; guests were strolling through the lobby with drinks in their hands, decorated with little umbrellas; and vacationers were relaxing on the hotel’s couches as the sun streamed in through the open doorways.
He spotted Judy at the front desk helping a guest. He positioned himself off to the side, leaning against a palm tree, so that he wouldn’t frighten her away. He decided to begin with the weakest link. Judy has always had a vivacious personality: brimming with enthusiasm and charm, with a quick smile on her pretty face, and a bright sparkle in her large brown eyes. But she wasn’t confident of herself like Gregg and Ryan. They were much harder to read. They both were tall and muscular with thick dark-brown hair. Ryan had dark-blue eyes that sparkled when he smiled, while Gregg had dark green eyes that matched his somber personality.
After Judy was finished with the guest, she looked hesitantly over at Todd. He detected fear in her eyes. He didn’t want to alienate her or her friends. He greeted her in the friendliest manner he could muster up. “Hi Judy, what happened to you at the house? I was afraid that something had happened to you or your group.”
“We were concerned for the second group so we went downstairs to check on them.” She was staring at the ground, refusing to meet his eyes.
This was not a good sign. And they had disappeared without informing him first, but he was their group leader and therefore, had to be informed of everything. “What happened?”
“We were too late: Tom and Edward had already disappeared. However, we did manage to help David find the lever by the door that helped them to escape the wild animals. And Gregg pushed David down the stairs to free him from the flying creatures.”
     “What were these creatures?”
“We couldn’t figure out what or who they were.” She was standing behind the front desk, shuffling her feet back and forth.
“How did Louise escape from the hanging?” Todd asked in a soft tone, not wanting to agitate her any further.
“We chased away the circling figures and then Ryan resuscitated Louise, who was still unconscious. Once she was breathing on her own, we left her on the beach.”
“Were the figures in the gazebo human?”
Judy shook her head back and forth. “We couldn’t tell: they wore hoods draped over their faces. But they did seem to be human. They could be anyone from town, or even someone from inside our own group.”
“Why didn’t you come to me for help?” his voice rose, upset that they’d left on their own and hadn’t even found out anything useful.
Judy, who was looking very sincere, quickly apologized. “I’m sorry. We didn’t know if you had turned. We didn’t know who to trust anymore.”
“I understand. But from now on, we’ll work together as a team. Tell Ryan and Gregg that I’ll return tomorrow to plan a new course of action.” Too bad they always needed to be told what to do. He had hoped by now that they would be better able to make decisions on their own.
“Yes, boss. We knew that we couldn’t handle this on our own.”
“You did very well. You saved David and Louise. I’m very proud of you.” He turned away and walked out of the hotel, without looking back.
Judy stood there smiling to herself.

REVIEW OF THE DEAD GAME by Susanne Leist

I'm posting the reviews on my book. I like this one since it was 5 stars.

I copied it from Barnes & Noble.

The Dead Game by Susanne Leist Book Review by Stella Coulson A

A compelling spine chilling paranormal thriller in which Linda arrives in a Town called ‘Oasis’, a seemingly sleepy town where nothing is as it appears to be and may be the home of Vampires. Leist’s Vampires aren’t your conventional Vampire, for there are more then one type living in scenic Town. Some have no regard for human life and are dangerous monstrous psychopaths of the worst kind; While another of a more Noble nature can co- exist with humans, as well as human Vampire hybrid offspring.Oasis is charming, inviting, and Leist paints such a wonderful picture that you can almost catch the scent of the ocean and feel you are actually at ‘End House’. ‘End House’ itself is the beautiful unnerving decaying house that seems like a place that Dickens’s Miss Havisham would have lived. The picture Leist paints of her world is beautifully written and the experience is almost tactile. From her description of opulent homes to the quaint stores, she lulls you into a state of calm, and then pulls you deeper into darkness which lurks beneath.

“Don’t you think that it’s strange that the older residents
Don’t come out at all during the day?” asked Shana.

(Page Sec1:43).

This is among many questions the reader will ask and wonder, as they are drawn deeper within a Town with its own share of secrets. We discover that creatures of the night with beautiful faces, a sea of death lying upon the beautiful golden sands and are lead into a fantastic paranormal mystery. Mystery is just one of the genres the Author uses to blend into her gripping paranormal tale. She also uses horror, noir and many other elements and it works extremely well.

‘’Todd stepped back and looked into her eyes, “Why are you
wandering around alone? There are evil things lurking in the
dark…ready to pounce on unsuspecting mortals.”
His eyes were open very wide, revealing a wild—maybe
even deranged—look. For a fleeting second she felt afraid of
him, until she realized that it was concern she was seeing reflected in his dark eyes.’’

We then are lead to question ‘who can she trust’. Are her friends, loved ones all that they appear? Is it a case of paranoia or are her instincts trying to tell us something. The air of intensity and wonder keeps the reader on edge.

(Page Sec1:29).

The characters; Let us star off with our protagonist Linda - She is independent, sweet and very easy to like. She’s someone who you’d like to have as a friend. She is a real girl who has her own hang ups and flaws - This makes her endearing. The End House you could almost call a character in itself, much like the chilling unnerving Hotel in the Shining. It seems alive, dark, evil and full of bad intentions. It is a jarring sight in comparison to its Town Oasis, a tranquil idyllic sleepy place that one would at first think live up to its name. Think of the End House as Oasis’ very own picture of Dorian Grey in the attic. You see the hidden darkness manifest corporeally as evil decaying twisted ruin.
Todd our delicious arrogant eye candy, has an air of self importance about him. I imagine it may annoy some, but he his intellect and charm make up for it. He reads the Wall Street Journal and is described as Greek God like in appearance, is articulate, powerful and affluent. Confidence is attractive and he has a lot of it. Of course I’d gladly smack him in the jaw if I were Linda. It works for his character and is interesting for the story.

The Dead Game is a page turner, elegantly written, full of suspense and is a enjoyable novel and well worth a read. ~ By Stella Coulson,  Author of Whitby After Dark - Volume 1

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 60

Impatient with both of them, Todd dragged them through the swarms of worms. Once they were outside the room, Linda gave a sigh of relief.  The persistent worms were locked in the bedroom, behind the door that had concealed itself into the wall.
The next room turned out to be a huge library. Its four walls were lined with books, all the way up to the high, carved, domed ceiling.
Todd moved over to one wall of books, withdrawing one book at random. “The books are real in a fake house.”  The book was Grimm’s Fairytales.  He added, “A very appropriate book for this situation.”
He walked over to the desk. “Of course, no papers on the desk or in the drawers.”
Shana was spinning a large globe standing on the floor beside the desk. When she glanced down at it, she was startled to see that the globe portrayed a world without land but only water. “The person running this show has a weird perception of reality. His world consists only of water without land or people. Maybe he wants to get rid of everyone and live on this mountain all by himself,” she said.
“Or maybe he wants to live on this whole planet by himself,” Linda remarked, adding to Shana’s myopic explanation for the reasoning behind the fake party.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 58

Linda shrieked as she rushed to the doorway that they’d just crossed through.  But the door was no longer there. It had been replaced with a solid wall. She ran her fingers along the surface. “Oh my God! Oh my God! This can’t be real! Where’s the stupid door?”  She searched for an opening.
“The script has already been written,” Todd said. “We have no choice but to follow the predetermined path in order to find our way out.  Hurry! Stay behind me! And don’t touch anything!” He pointed to the door that had just surfaced on the far wall between the doors to the “sauna” and “steam room.”  He continued, “We must exit through this new doorway and see where it leads us.”
