THE HOUSE COMES ALIVE

green lips

The house comes alive.
Snakes slither in cages.
Human-eating plants stand at attention.
Tree limbs grab my arms.
Roots wrap around my legs.
What’s next?
Quicksand?

THE DEAD GAME HAS BEGUN

takingoffmyhood: stairs

I slip on the steps
and catch hold of the rickety banister.
A single light bulb swings on its chain,
revealing a dark basement ahead.
The door slams shut behind us.
I run to it.
It’s locked.
We move as one.
The floor fills with water.
I’m submerged to my knees.
The walls rattle.
Cages descend on ropes.
As they sway near us,
sharp stakes extend
from the bottom edges.
Circular saws follow them,
swirling between the empty cages.
THE DEAD GAME has begun.

HELLO

A party on Friday 13th
has turned into a horror show.
I’m trapped with my friends
in the basement of End House.
The floor fills with water.
Rotating saws descend.
We swim to the other side
and are faced with three doors.
We open one.
Roars fill the inky darkness.
Wild animals pace their cages.
I turn to run.
Hot breath on my neck.
I glance back.
The cages have opened.
A tiger advances.
I close my eyes.
We are doomed to play
THE DEAD GAME.

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART

A HOUSE OF SURPRISES

On a dare,
I came here.
Into a deserted house, I go.
I can’t see if there’s friend or foe.
Windows too dirty to see through the casement.
I’m taking the creaky steps to the basement.
Three empty coffins are in the light.
My heart almost stopped beating from fright.
This is much too creepy for me.
I hope one isn’t meant for me.
Unfortunately, the door was locked.
My only way out has been blocked.
Shadows are moving toward me from the rear.
Their elongated faces show no fear.
I believe I have well-played my last game.
The evil winner could have all the fame.

LOCKED IN THE BASEMENT

Steps lead to the basement of End House.
The door locks behind you.
There’s no way out.
Water fills up to your knees.
Metal cages descend.
Sharp edges extend to catch
their next victim.
You dodge the cages.
Circular saws sweep through the water.
The far wall holds three closed doors.
What lies behind these doors?
Read THE DEAD GAME to find out.

TIME KILLS

Source:

Time kills.
The Dead kill.
They play no favorites.
We all become victims.
Prey for their games.
Cages will entrap us.
Lost in a maze of rooms.
Welcome.

HEAR THEM ROAR

Tigers pace in their cages,
Waiting to be set free.
Animals fill the basement.
An awful sight to see.

Leashes jangle against bars.
Metal against metal rings loud.
As the gates slowly lift open,
Pointy teeth glisten without sound.

This cannot be happening.
This cannot be so.
No way are there tigers
in the basement below.

MY BEATING HEART

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART
Can you feel your heart beating?
Is it beating too fast?
Do you feel trapped?
That is because you are.
You’re standing in a pool of water,

wearing your party...

BE STILL MY BEATING HEART
Can you feel your heart beating?
Is it beating too fast?
Do you feel trapped?
That is because you are.
You’re standing in a pool of water,
in the basement of End House,
wearing your party clothes.
There is a party,
but no host or guests.
The door behind you locks shut.
The only way is forward,
through the falling cages
with their sharp edges,
ready to ensnare their next victim.
Circular saws begin to descend,
looking for heads to slice off.
Run!
Run for your life!
The owner of End House takes no prisoners.
