FIRES OF HELL

book Dead Game Fire

FIRES OF HELL
A hot sight to see.
Now part of the sea.
Gone the lush paradise
By a toss of the dice.

PINK

A touch of pink at night.
I do not need much light.
I bud in the dark.
My spot in the park.
Can you feel me touch your hair?
If you cannot, please come near.
I’ll sprout in the spring for you and me.
A prettier sight you will not see.

SIT ALONE IN THE DARK

ALONE IN THE DARK
“I sit alone by the table.
I hear voices around me.
Sounds of movement.
Sounds of life.
I reach out.
I can feel the smoothness.
A plate.
A meal.
Smells waft by my nose.
Aromas of chicken.
Sweet smells of pudding.
Smells of...

“I sit alone in the dark.
I hear voices around me.
Sounds of movement.
Sounds of life.

I reach out.
I can feel the smoothness.
A plate.
A meal.
Smells waft by my nose.
Aromas of chicken.
Sweet smells of pudding.
Smells of life.

What color is the food?
Is the sun shining in?
Are the faces around me young or old?
So many questions.

Questions I can’t answer.
I can never answer.
For I am blind,
Have been blind for years.”
The anguish my mother faced
For most of her life.
Her sight stolen from her
At a young age.
Loss of sight.
Loss of colors.
Loss of faces.
Loss of memories.

So many questions.

Questions I can't answer.
I can never answer.
For I am blind,
Have been blind for years."

The anguish my mother had faced
For most of her life.
Her sight stolen from her
At a young age.
Loss of sight.
Loss of colors.

COLORS FOR MY MIND

COLORS FOR MY MIND

Picture a flower growing from the sea.
Can there be a prettier sight to see?
Blue bubbles of flowers floating ashore.
Who even knows what they are supposed for.
This is what I need for today.
Pastel colors to soothe my stay.
Pinks and blues mix well together.
I can look at them forever.

DARKNESS IS YOUR ONLY FRIEND

  1. DARKNESS IS YOUR ONLY FRIEND

    A room full of books.
You can feel them with your fingertips.
But you can’t see a single word.
    Your senses are sensitized.
    Every single noise is amplified.
    But you can’t see light.
    Or colors.
    You are blind.
In a world full of color.
    Your fingertips lead you.
    Your senses guide you.
    Darkness is your only friend.

FIRES OF HELL

FIRES OF HELL

A hot sight to see.
Now part of the sea.
Gone the lush paradise
By a toss of the dice.

The flames come ashore.
The town is no more.
We flee in despair.
Single or in pair.

Low and behold our loss.
Ground that will grow no moss.
Now grass brown and brittle.
Where there once was thistle.

A JOURNEY

A JOURNEY

Take the journey.
Into the dark tunnel.
See where it may lead.
Into the darkness you go.

With shoulders back.
Eyes forward.
The darkness will take your hand.
And you will follow.

Screams might torment you.
Traps might ensnare you.
But on you go.
To your destination.

With an end in sight.
Hold on tight for the ride.
For it is a journey we must all take.
The journey of life.

CAN YOU SEE ME NOW?

I am hiding.
I am shy.
I am camouflaged.
No one will ever find me.
Except for maybe the fly,
who insists on buzzing around me.
The sun has spotted my spots
with its rays of sunshine.
The bird is eying me with
its black eyes.
But otherwise,
I’m safely hidden from sight.
Hidden from humans.
What am I?
Could you tell what I am?

OUR EYES

WHAT OUR EYES CAN SEE
OUR EYES CAN CAPTURE THE QUICK MOVEMENT.
THEY CAN CAPTURE THE DISPLAY OF COLORS.
THEY CAN EVEN DISTINGUISH BETWEEN THE COLORS.
EACH AND EVERY DAY WE SHOULD APPRECIATE THE GIFT OF SIGHT,
FOR SO MANY OF US HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS VERY SPECIAL GIFT.
