RING THOSE BELLS

Bells to ring in the summer.
Tiny lights to brighten the day.
A fragrance to calm the mighty.
Soothing music for the senses.

HARMONY OF THE SENSES

Source:

The rustle of the grass
as I make my way past.
The hard waves against the shore
echo memories and more.
The soft feel of the white sand
as I touch toes to the land.
The cries of the seagulls
as they dip to check holes.
A harmony of the senses.
A feast to cover all tenses.
Past, present, future converge
to bring pleasure to this splurge.

PRETTY IN PINK

 Pretty in Pink

Source:

Petals drift in the warm breeze.
Pretty in pink, they flutter.
The fragrance tickles my nose.
Velvety soft to the touch.
My senses engaged.
My mind is at rest.
No need for worries.
No need for more words.

ALONE IN THE DARK

I sit alone by the table.
I hear voices.
Sounds of movement.
Sounds of life.

I reach out.
I feel something smooth.
A plate.
A meal.
Smells tickle my nose.
Aromas of chicken.
Sweet smells of pudding.
Smells of life.

What color is the food?
Is the sun shining?
Are the faces around me young or old?
So many questions.

Questions I can’t answer,
I’ve never been able to answer.
For I’ve been blind,
Living in the dark for years.
The nursing home is now my prison.
I sit alone,
Ignored by the staff,
Poked by the staff.
This is not the ending
I would have envisioned for myself.
A darkness too encompassing.
A sadness too overwhelming.

ALONE IN THE DARK

ALONE IN THE DARK

"I sit alone by the table.
I hear voices around me.
Sounds of movement.
Sounds of life.

I reach out.
I can feel the smoothness.
A plate.
A meal.

Smells waft by my nose.
Aromas of chicken.
Sweet smells of  pudding.
Smells of life.

What color is the food?
Is the sun shining in?
Are the faces around me young or old?
So many questions.

Questions I can't answer.
I can never answer.
For I am blind,
Have been blind for years."

The anguish my mother had faced
For most of her life.
Her sight stolen from her
At a young age.
Loss of sight.
Loss of colors.
Loss of faces.
Loss of memories.

DARKNESS IS YOUR ONLY FRIEND

  1. DARKNESS IS YOUR ONLY FRIEND

    A room full of books.
You can feel them with your fingertips.
But you can’t see a single word.
    Your senses are sensitized.
    Every single noise is amplified.
    But you can’t see light.
    Or colors.
    You are blind.
In a world full of color.
    Your fingertips lead you.
    Your senses guide you.
    Darkness is your only friend.

A FACE

A FACE

duc

A nose.
A mouth.
Two eyes.
A face.
What does it add up to?
Does it reveal the person inside?
Can you feel his heart?
Enjoy his humor?
Feel his pain?
See the world
through his eyes?
A person is not
the sum of his parts.
His parts add up to
much, much more.

NIGHT WALK

plasmatics-life:
Night Walk - {by Tiina Törmänen} | {Official WebSite}
A walk alone in the dark.
Feel the cold.
Smell the trees.
Hear the snow falling.
Watch the stars sparkle.
Engage all your senses.
No interference.
No voices.
No noises.
Only clean, fresh air.
And you.

TRIUMPH OF NATURE

What gifts do you have for us,
Oh beautiful sky?
Some warm sunshine.
A soft breeze or two.
Maybe a light misting.
Your gaze is triumphant.
Reflecting on the soothing waves.
I could feel your warmth.
See your beauty.
Hear your tentative rumbling.
Taste the salty air with my tongue.
My senses are engaged.
You delight and tantalize them.
Thank you.

ONE WITH HUMANITY

Compassion can be felt.
Nature responds to it.
Animals can sense it.
It can draw people to you like
a moth to a flame.
It is responsible for miracles.
It shows mercy without bias.
It should be freely given
to all of humanity.
No matter the color, species,
or race.
For we are one.
One with nature.
One with the universe.
One with humanity.
