THE DEAD GAME

The house on the hill looks to be deserted.
No one answers our knock at the door.
We enter a dark hallway.
All we can see is a staircase
standing before us.
Candlelight flickers from wall sconces.
Should we follow the candles
or flee before it’s too late?
Characters never flee in
horror stories.
And that is what they’re in.
