THE DEAD GAME — Day of the Alligators

bats

Linda was hanging over the pool filled with alligators. Todd was faced with Maxell, a new type of creature intent on killing him and his friends. Todd wasn’t going to allow Maxell to kill his beloved, Linda.
Maxell spun around and gawked at Wolf. “How could you possibly be alive? You died in the alligator pool.”
“Who told you that, your grandmother? Do you believe your grandmother or your own father?”
“Are you trying to tell me that you’re my father? My father died when I was born,” Maxell said.
“No, I didn’t. I left your mother. She made up the whole story to hide the truth.”
     “Prove it.”
Wolf hesitated for a brief moment and then said, “Your mother has always been extremely organized and kept very strict schedules. She was dreadfully difficult to live with.”
“Yes. She was too strict. She never let me be me. I wanted to be free from her.”
“Be free now. Come with me. We could go away together and start a new life,” Wolf said, walking closer to her.
Maxell began to walk toward Wolf. Wolf’s image wavered and disappeared, leaving Maxell standing alone in the middle of the alligator pool. She fell to her death, looking up at Todd, who smiled down at her.
Reece opened the glass dome right before she hit the water. She sizzled and burned from the dazzling sunlight—all the while knowing that she’d been tricked by an apparition created by a weak and spineless human vampire.

A TROPICAL PARADISE

Let’s take the green carpet
Through the dense bush.
Mosquitoes our constant companions
Through the moisture-laden air.
Exotic plants fan our way
Through the sounds of the forest.
Shrieks and shouts accompany us
Through the rustling trees.
Snapping sounds follow us
Through our trek in the water.
The tempo quickens.
The beat picks up.
The air becomes heavier.
The sky greener.
We become one with nature.
Lost in a tropical paradise.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 170

LINDA WAS HANGING OVER A TANK OF ALLIGATORS. TODD HAD SAVED HER. WHAT ELSE WAS IN STORE FOR THE INNOCENT RESIDENTS OF OASIS?

Linda was snatched from the body of the large snake by Reece, who had flown up to her. He brought her down into Todd’s waiting arms.
“I hope all the evil in town has been eliminated. Am I correct this time?” Todd asked the elders.
You haven’t been correct once so far. Mike shook his head.
Reece said, “I believe the evil is gone from town. You can all go home.”
“Where was Hayden during all this?” Sam asked.
“We sent him to Europe to take care of a few matters for us. We knew that either you or Sam would resolve this situation,” Reece said, walking over to shake Todd’s hand.
“How did you know that one of us would be stepping in to save everyone? I was waiting for Hayden. I was attempting to buy us some time,” Todd said.
You were just lucky this timeIf you had really tried, then things wouldn’t have worked out so well.
“I knew that one of you would be successful, since you both have untapped powers that need to be further developed,” Reece said.
“What type of powers?” Mike asked.
“That’s for another day,” Reece said. He disappeared with Leanne and Diane right behind him.
Mike glanced over at Todd and Sam, trying to figure out what these untapped powers could be.

THE DEAD GAME — DAY 166

Linda was hanging over the pool of alligators in Wolf’s house. Maxell was flaunting her powers. How was Linda going to escape from this mess?

“We’ll be happy to grant your dying wish,” Reece said as he appeared with Leanne and Diane.
“Welcome, weak and spineless vampires. If you kill me, then my hold on the snake will break and this gorgeous reptile will be free to strangle this stupid human. Whatever he fails to eat, I’m sure the alligators will be happy to finish off. Everyone will be happy—except of course for this human.”
Since the elders were standing in front of Maxell, they had lost any element of surprise. Their only chance was Hayden again. Mike couldn’t understand why the elders weren’t capable of following through with a simple plan. If they had surprised this Maxell vampire, then they would have been able to overcome her. Now, they had to stand there like idiots, waiting for Hayden to save the day again.
Todd stared up at Linda. He wanted to offer her some kind of reassurance that everything would be okay, but her eyes were fixed on the tank of alligators. He had to do something to help her; he couldn’t just stand there and watch her die. What could he do? What powers did he possess that could be used here? He knew that his only true power was of suggestion. Then an idea came to him.
He turned to face Maxell and spoke to someone over her shoulder. “You’re back, Wolf.  I’d assumed that we’d finally seen the last of you.”
Maxell spun around and gawked at Wolf. “How could you possibly be alive? You died in the alligator pool.”

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 165

Todd was afraid that Linda was being held by Maxell in Wolf’s house. Wolf’s house made him uncomfortable with its cave of bats, moving greenery in the green house, and the pool of snapping alligators.

Judy, Gregg, and Ryan were blocking the front door of Wolf’s house, waiting until Sam arrived with reinforcements. They were insisting that they were only following the sheriff’s strict orders, but Todd was impatient to be inside already.
He didn’t have to wait long. Sam arrived with Father John as his sole backup. Todd was shocked to see only the two of them. “How are we going to free Linda? Where is our vampire backup?” He knew that there was no way they could be successful without adequate supernatural support.
“Leanne, Diane, and Reece are coming; they told me to go in and check out the situation. Hayden will be here soon,” Sam said.
Todd charged up the steps, pushing his way between the three human vampires. Inside he spotted Shana, Mike, David, and Louise, standing close together in the hall. He turned to Sam. “I thought I’d told you to steer clear of humans! How did they find out so quickly?”
“Let go of me! I didn’t say anything to them!” Sam yelled back at Todd.
Shana stepped forward. “Each one of us received a note requesting our presence at Wolf’s house. Sam didn’t tell us!” She threw Todd a cold, angry look.
“I’m sorry,” Todd said. He stepped away from Sam, releasing his neck from his strong hold.
Todd turned to march down the hall and began issuing orders. “I’ll go in first and then the rest of you can follow. We’ll first check out the alligator tank. Take my lead and make no abrupt decisions on your own! Linda’s life is at stake!” He led the way through the house until they reached the alligator pool. He suspected that Linda and Maxell were there: alligators would be easy weapons. Just as he suspected, Maxell was standing in front of the open alligator tank.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 155

THE DEAD GAME --  DAY 155

In the blink of an eye, Wolf had Linda in his strong arms. She hadn’t realized that anyone so big could move so quickly. He was gazing down at her longingly, while she, in turn, was completely mesmerized by his black eyes and handsome face. He kissed her powerfully on the lips, causing her to experience so many deep and unsettled feelings that she felt like she was going to pass out. If he hadn’t been holding her, she was sure she would have fallen to the ground.
It felt as if there were only the two of them in the world: everyone else was disappearing in a soft, hazy mist; her friends were drifting far away; she could see their shadows fading in the distance. Where was Todd? Had he deserted her? Did she now belong to Wolf? A deep part of her still held on to Todd—refusing to leave him for a true vampire. But she couldn’t think: her mind was becoming too foggy. She wanted to yell out “Help me” but her mouth wouldn’t work. She was drifting off into a deep sleep that she feared could last forever.
“Come and see my little friends!” Wolf said while directing the rest of them to the edge of the clear glass floor that covered the tank of alligators. Waving his hand over the floor, the glass slowly dissolved into the water. The creatures were now right below them—without the protection of the glass floor—hungrily staring up at them.
“Be careful that you don’t fall in, or you’ll be dinner.” Wolf laughed at his own crude joke. “Come closer and get a better look at my sweet babies.”
The three humans remained close together.
“I can make you move against your will, but the consequences would be much direr for you,” said Wolf, enjoying their discomfort, while holding a semi-conscious Linda against his muscular body.
While Wolf was busy being enthralled by Linda, Todd made his appearance. He quickly took in the whole scene: Mike, David, and Shana huddled in fear at the edge of the floor, Linda lying limp and lifeless in Wolf’s arms. He was going to kill Wolf by ripping him apart, limb by limb, from his traitorous body. No one was going to hurt Linda on his watch. With a snarl, he ran at Wolf, knocking him to the ground and in doing so, successfully freed Linda from his strong grasp.
Anger had propelled him with superhuman strength; however, his victory was very short-lived. Wolf was swiftly up again and ready for battle. He roared, revealing his long sharp fangs. Todd found himself in a choke hold, his head hanging over the edge of the tanks, close to the jaws of the snapping alligators.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 97

THE DEAD GAME — DAY 97

They were led to rooms to the left of the main entrance. They entered an empty dining room with green colored wallpaper on its dreary walls. Just like End House with its eerie bare green walls. At the rear of the house was ahuge kitchen, which was empty of any furniture, appliances,or even doors to the cabinets.
“I don’t spend much time at home,” Wolf said to explain the useless dining room and kitchen. He then directed them back through the gallery, to the rooms on the right side of the house. The first room turned out to be a greenhouse, full of plants and trees. The air was very humid and much hotter than the other rooms. The plant life grew wild, without any concern for design or pattern. A narrow path snaked through the thick forest of bushes to the back.
The trees were huge and tall, their tops almost reaching the high domed ceiling. Squawking sounds echoed from somewhere inside the tight growth of trees. Leaves rustled while scurrying noises emanated from inside the thick knots of branches. Shana didn’t see any animals or birds, but only spotted leaves and branches moving in unison with the sounds. She was becoming more and more unnerved by the minute.
Then she heard a weird crunching sound by her feet. She looked down at the floor and was shocked to find alligators snapping at her feet. Their jaws were wide open, their black eyes staring up at her from a deep pool of green water. She jumped back in shock. Then she began to realize that the floor on which they stood was clear glass, separating them from the snapping alligators. She watched as the alligators munched on pieces of food that left bloody trails behind them in the water.
“Don’t be afraid. They can’t reach you,” Wolf assured Shana. As he stared down at her, she noticed that his eyes were glowing bright green.
Like a reptile.
