DEADLY INVITATION

thecastleofotranto:
Costume designed by Eiko Ishioka (1938~2012)

Come to me, my pretty.
I’m waiting with open arms.
Grab hold of my gown.
I will take you on an adventure.
The bats will be your guide.
Don’t worry.
No one will harm you.
Unless I say so.
Would you follow her?
What else comes to mind
when you see such a gown?

INTO THE DARK NIGHT

Prank

INTO THE DARK NIGHT
Follow me along the cobbled road.
Shadows lurk and float on by.
Hurry, catch up before I grow old.
Winged creatures fill the night sky.

My high heels click against the cobbled stones.
This way to the oldest building in town.
Take care not to step on any bones.
Curve your mouth to remove that awful frown.

Up the steps, we go.
Please walk through the open door.
Is he friend or foe?
Multiple heads hint at more.

Growls fill the still air.
Darkness permeates the long room.
Reaching hands grow near.
A woman flies by on a broom.

“Surprise” is shouted by all.
Lights shine brightly in our faces.
Enters a man ten feet tall.
Standing high on metal braces.

He holds a cake rimmed with black bats.
The audience quiets to a hush.
My friends approach in party hats.
They sing to me as I hide a blush.

“Happy Halloween” and “Happy Birthday”
Become “Happy Hallowday.”
As I bow my head and enjoy my day.
A prank I must soon repay.

DARK AS SIN

Friday the 13th is here.
There is nothing to fear.
My gargoyle friends are waiting.
Their stares are somewhat scathing.
But the night is still young.
The noose is already hung.
Bats fly around the old house.
They squeak like a little mouse.
Lightning...

But the night is still young.
The noose is already hung.
Bats fly around the old house.
They squeak like a little mouse.
Lightning sizzles as it plays.
Over the dark house, it stays.
Thunder rumbles in pain.
Loud noises but no rain.
The door opens wide.
There’s no place to hide.
We might as well go in.
Inside looks dark as sin.

TAKE ME TO THE CHURCH

Take me to the church.
The town’s on fire.
Hell has let loose its demons.
Take me to the church.
The Town Hall has lost its windows.
The Dead are taking over the town.
Take me to the church.
I refuse to become one of The Dead.
We must run for shelter.
Take me to the church.
Hell is raining down upon us.
Creatures are stalking us.
Take me to the church.
It stands no more.
Gone in a puff of smoke.
Take me away from here.
Amen.

IT WAITS

THE HOUSE WAITS
The sun falls to earth.
The moon begins its reign.
A dark reign over the world.
Over Oasis, Florida
And End House.
Take me to The Dead.
I want to see them.
Make them pay
For what they have done.
For taking my friends.
Flapping wings fill the air.
They converge on the house.
Waiting for the battle to begin.
A battle to the death.
Time has come for the game to end.

THE BARN

What lurks in your darkest mind?
If you open the door, what will you find?
Creak, Creak, Creak.
The door opens but closes right away.
We must go in.
We have but seconds.
Let’s go!
It’s dark in here.
I hear sniffles, grunts, shuffles.
Horses?
It is a barn.
Screeeeech.
A bird just pulled on my hair.
More screeches.
Feathers are flying.
Claws are reaching for us.
The door behind us is locked.
We could climb up to the hay loft.
We could escape through its window.
Come on, I’ll pull you up.
We made it.
Watch out!
A bird is coming at us.
Oh no! It has taken my friend.
Here comes another one.
He’s strange looking.
A furry body with a man’s face.
Oh boy.

A PARTY

No party to be had.
No host standing welcome.
No party favors to enjoy.
A meal not to be eaten.
A deadly scene is revealed.
A bloody horror is released.
Guests flee for their lives.
Some still trapped inside.
No party to be had.
Only The Dead to be unleashed.

IMMORAL CODE

It’s creepy.
It’s eerie.
Too scary.
The house lives.
It tells it’s tale.
Vampires in its walls.
The Dead trapped in its tunnels.
Who is running this horror show?
The evil one.
He controls our town.
He controls The Dead.
We must unearth his secrets.
His immoral codes.
And make him pay.
For his deadly sins.

A GAME

  1. Green-glassed walls hold us in.
    The ground rumbles and shakes.
The trees lift up their trunks,
Pulling their roots from the dirt.
    They shuffle closer to us,
    Bushes following in their wake.
A tall plant opens its jaws,
Sharp teeth protruding from its mouth.
    Squeaking bats follow us out,
Flapping their wings at our heads.
    We must escape this house.
This is not a game I care to play.
