TRAPPED

Trapped in the mansion’s walls,

we struggle to break free.

Sighs echo through the halls,

but our plight no one can see.

THE HALLWAY

Green Hallway

The hallway awaits.

It beckons.

It calls.

Doors line either side.

Shrill cries fill the air.

Cold creeps into my bones.

Then silence descends.

I peek into the first room.

Empty wheelchairs face me.

Except for one.

It turns, rolls to me,

then stops.

I freeze.

The lights flash.

A table appears at the far wall.

A bright surgical light hangs above.

The men in white coats face me.

I open my mouth to scream.

I'm strapped to the table.

The men in white peer at me.

A drill whirls next to my ear.

I struggle against the thick straps.

The room goes black.

HEAR THEM ROAR

Prey Art Print By Daniel Taylor

Tigers pace in their cages,

Waiting to be set free.

Animals fill the basement,

An awful sight to see.

Leashes jangle against bars.

Metal against metal rings loud.

As the gates slowly lift open,

Pointy teeth glisten without sound.

This cannot be happening.

This cannot be so.

No way are there tigers

In the basement below.

THE GAMES BEGIN

Metal clangs shut over the doors and windows.

Trapped in a house sealed as tight as a tomb,

Gregg must solve the computer’s complex riddles to escape.

Vampires and werewolves, sworn enemies of the night,

stare at each other as time begins to click away.

Freezing air blasts from the vents,

followed by a mechanized female voice.

“Gentleman, are you ready?” echoes around them.

Thus begins the thrilling adventure for Shana and her friends as they track The Dead from Florida’s swamplands to Quebec City.

Will Gregg escape the locked house in time to save his fiancee Linda from the rogue werewolves?

Will Shana save her boyfriend, William, from the blood curse infecting vampires, or will she succumb to her ex’s boyish charms?

A race to the finish culminates at a showdown at Quebec’s La Citadelle.

Let the better man or vampire win.

LET THE LEAVES FALL

Source: fall-spirit

Let the leaves fall where they may

upon tombstones built to stay.

On these stones, the residents pound

as fall colors litter the ground.

No one is free to leave.

To this earth, they must cleave.

TRAPPED IN HELL AS THEY RING THE DINNER BELL

Trapped in the walls

The padlocks seal the front gate.
We must escape our dark fate.

As the doors and windows close,
there’s still no sign of our foes.

Once we are trapped in hell,
they ring the dinner bell.

LOST AT A CARNIVAL

LOST AT A CARNIVAL
A clown leers at me.
The knife-thrower aims
and misses.
I run into a tent.
Mirrors surround me.
I flee into the darkness
and crash through a mirror.
I stand in a dark room.
The floor spins.
I grab for the walls.
My hands slide
on...

A clown leers at me.
The knife-thrower aims
and misses.
I run into a tent.
Mirrors surround me.
I flee into the darkness
and crash through a mirror.
I stand in a dark room.
The floor spins.
I grab for the walls.
My hands slide
on the slippery stones.
A hole opens in the ground.
It widens,
pulling me closer
to the abyss.
I’m falling.

THE HOUSE COMES ALIVE

green lips

The house comes alive.
Snakes slither in cages.
Human-eating plants stand at attention.
Tree limbs grab my arms.
Roots wrap around my legs.
What’s next?
Quicksand?

Open The Door

A door to your imagination,
Where words flow like water,
Ideas ride the tides,
And stories coast to shore.

A door to The Dead,
Where darkness rules,
Creatures fly free,
And no one is safe.
