DOWN

Source:

Down I go
To the depths
Of my sadness.
I can’t go on.
I must rest.
Replenish my spirit.
Revitalize my soul.
I can turn around.
Go back up.
Try once more.
I must first stop.
Rest.
Perchance to sleep.

BENEATH IT ALL

Waves crashing.
Fins stalking.
Birds crying.
Sun glaring.
Head sinking.
Darkness approaching.
A soothing quiet.
A wet blackness.
A quiet void.
Beneath it all.

WHITE SAND

Endless miles of beach.
Coated in white sand.
Sprinkled in salt water.
Topped with colorful rocks.
A delicious dish
For the sated.

HOLD ON

The world keeps turning.
A non-stop ride.
All riders hold on.
Doors open for no one.
Ride can end unexpectedly.
The views can be spectacular.
The falls can be horrendous.
Hold on for dear life.

SNOW IN FLORIDA?

The house waits in the cold
in the deepening snow.
Snow in Florida?
Brutal winds charge against it.
Icicles hang from it.
It holds strong and steady.
It waits for us
to give us shelter in the storm.
A dry place for fun and games.
What kind of games you make ask?
Deadly games of The Dead & gone.
Creatures in the walls.
A vampire’s family trapped in the tunnels
beneath  End House.
We’re waiting.

THE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT

Sparkle.
Sparkle.
Shine.
Sway back and forth.
To the silent music.
The music of the night.
Asleep.
Come what may.
Drifting.
Dreaming.
Fantasy after fantasy.
Let the dark cover all.
Let it become part of you.
Join in to the music.
The deep silence.
The music of the night.
Sparkle.
Sparkle.
Shine.
Sway back and forth.
To the silent music.
The music of the night.

A RIDE INTO YOUR IMAGINATION

ISLAND IN THE SUN

A kitten aboard a floating victoria water lily pad in the Philippines, circa 1935

My own island.
Floating in the sun.
My own heaven.
Of lily pads.

GONE IN THE MIST

Source:

Gone in the mist.
Gone from this world.
Lost in a rainbow of colors.
Dead to us.
Alive for others.

FOOTSTEPS AT THE DOOR

“Institute Benjamenta” (1995) dir. Timothy Quay, Stephen Quay

Has he come for me?
I hear his footsteps.
Walking up the steps.
The leaves stop rustling.
The wind stops blowing.
The silence is overpowering.
Is he standing outside the door,
Waiting for me to open it?
I won’t.
I won’t let him in.
He wants me.
I won’t become one of The Dead.

IMAGINE

Follow the yellow lines.
They take you to the future.
To where no man has trod.
To pink mountain tops.
To snow-filled valleys.
To fluffy white clouds.
To wherever your imagination
Wants to take you.
Happy trails!

IT COMES IN THE NIGHT

Source:

It comes in the night.
It comes to all.
To all who sleep.
To all who lie awake.
It comes on soft wings.
It comes in silence.
I lie and wait.
In trepidation.
In fear.
For it.
