THE JOURNEY

The mist follows close at my heels,
Relentless in its pursuit.
Roots poke through the ground.
Tree limbs grab at me.
The fog clears.
The forest ends.
I’ve reached the clearing.
He waits for me.
A black stallion is his ride.
I grab his extended arm.
He lifts me behind him.
We ride like the wind.
I sigh and turn my head.
A scream is lodged in my throat.
His face isn’t of my loved one
but a mask of death.
We ride like the wind
to the ends of the earth.
Hell’s gates shut behind us.
No one is knocking on its doors.

IN THE GREEN

Green grows deep in the forest,
slithering up the tall trees,
digging holes in the brown earth.
The earth rumbles and quakes,
yearning to free itself
from the shackles of green
tethered to its arms and legs.
Soon all is slathered in the lime color
as a green mist gathers and circles.

A SHIMMERING BLUE

Source:

Haze covers the town,
but please do not frown.
Secrets are concealed.
The Dead are revealed.
We come in the fog.
The mist we don’t hog.
We’ll share it with you,
a shimmering blue.
The moon shines its glare
on those who come here.
Frolic in the night.
Just keep out of sight.

CRASHING WAVES

CRASHING WAVES
Waves crashing to shore.
I want more and more.
The mist in my face
Keeps me in this place.
The tides dare to peak,
Lulling me to sleep.
This is my spot for now.
Waves, I refuse to bow.

The tides dare to peak,
Lulling me to sleep.
This is my spot for now.
Waves, I refuse to bow.
I stand strong on the rocks,
Time passes on the clocks.
Deserted house I might be,
But I stand alone and free.

HEARTACHE FOR ME

Linda heartache

Heartache is for me.
My heart yearns for thee.
Lies fall so easily from your lips.
They feel salty on my fingertips.
I must remain strong.
I hope I am wrong.
I need proof to trust you once more.
My heart is breaking at its core.
The salty mist soothes me.
The wind caresses me.
But I feel cold deep inside.
I need a safe place to hide.

NO SURVIVORS

They fly through the trees.
Over the deadly mist.
Landing in the forest.
Where no man walks.
No light penetrates.
No laughter follows.
The realm of The Dead.
Their nightly playground.
Games with no survivors.

BLOOD MOON

Bloodmoon

BLOOD MOON
The moon is a foreshadow
of things to come,
frightening things,
unhappy things.
Its red glow creeps through trees
to the remote town,
where all are asleep,
feeling safe in their beds.
Creep, Creep, Creep,
the red mist spreads,
down the streets
and into the homes.
The fog solidifies,
forming dark shadows.
Shadows of the night
that have come to play.

THE END IS NEAR

A lamp post stands
in the forest.
Deserted woods
except for mist.
A wolf howls
in the distance.
A cold breeze hits me.
Is this a nightmare?
The rocks beneath my bare feet
feel hard and pointy.
Why am I barefooted?
And why am I dressed in
a nightgown?
A light flickers
in the lamp post.
I might not be alone.
I should run.
I can’t.
The end is near.
THE DEAD GAME has begun.
