A PERFECT DAY TURNS TO HORROR

The perfect seaside paradise.
Oasis, Florida offers white-sand beaches,
blue skies, and tropical breezes.
The soft waves lap at the shore.
Linda and her friends prepare a barbeque
on the beach.
They are having fun—until the waves
and the wind turn violent.
They leave their belongings and run for shelter.
Shelter at the Town Hall, which had withstood
all past disasters.
However, this time it isn’t strong enough.
Lightning and thunder hit around them.
Debris flies through the air, past the
building’s tall windows.
Lightning hits the building.
Stones fly from its walls.
Dark shadows crash through
its windows.
Flying shadows with bodies of bats, and
to Shana’s horror, human heads.
One lifts her by her hair, its sharp
talons digging into her scalp.
She knows that they are in real
trouble this time.

THE OCEAN

plasmatics-life:

Sunset & Flares | (by Ian Zamora)

I could watch the ocean for hours.
I find the waves and the motion of
the water to be very soothing.
Even though the ocean could be violent
at times, I still love it and admire it.

WHAT ELSE COULD ATTACK US?

With a violent storm raging outside,
the innocent residents flee to the Town Hall.
They hope to find safety in the town’s shelter.
Soon they will learn that they are not alone.
Creatures of the night have joined them.
These creatures come in many forms,
much to the horror of Linda and her friends.
Shadows, bats….
What else could be coming for them?

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 66

Louise ran down Main Street.  She felt all alone. The streets quiet. No lights or sounds were coming from the empty buildings. She saw candles flickering inside the gazebo. She felt her body being thrust toward the ghostly display of lights. The gusting wind was flinging leaves and branches at her face and around her feet, but still she was being propelled forward.
The gazebo, appearing pretty and tranquil during the
day, looked ethereal and unfamiliar to her in the light of the candles. Somehow, the circle of light remained firm and unwavering despite the violent storm raging all around her. She entered the lit circle…all the while knowing that she had just signed her death sentence. She had no control over her actions any longer; she was like a puppet on a string being controlled by a malevolent puppet master.
When she was positioned at the precise center of the circle of candles, dark shapes—similar to the ones that had been stalking her for weeks—appeared around the perimeter of the gazebo. They began circling her. As they circled faster and faster, a strong current of air lifted her up high under the roof of the gazebo. She felt a noose being wrapped around her neck. Then she felt it being tugged tighter and tighter until she could no longer breathe—or even care to struggle any longer.
Without any air left in her lungs…with the world spinning around her…she watched as the shadows slowed down and took on distinct human forms. The figures revealed themselves to be men and women with black eyes, glaring up at her. They were chanting in an unfamiliar language. They were clothed in long black robes, their hoods casting their faces in deep shadow. Long metal chains hung from their necks with huge gold medallions depicting snarling wolves’ heads.
One member of the group—taller and much larger than the rest—lifted arms up high to heaven or down to hell below. In response, the winds turned wilder and more violent, moaning in unison with the voice of the unknown leader. Louise recognized one face right before she lost consciousness, but she knew that it was too late for her or the town.

THE DEAD GAME--DAY 43

Louise was upset that she was stuck with Mike, David, Edward, and Tom—when she really wanted to be with Todd. Todd had arranged the two groups, purposely placing her in the second group. She wondered how much worse the evening could get.
Her group followed the flickering candles, which cast eerie shadows from their elevated positions on the hallway’s left wall. The dark paneled walls made the hall feel smaller and even darker.
David lagged behind the others. “It’s not too late for us to leave and return home. I don’t want to be here anymore…we should just….”
Mike tugged on David’s arm. “Don’t whine like a baby, David…and try to have some fun.”
     “Yeah, right.”
Edward and Tom assumed the lead and were following the wavering lights. Faced with two closed doors on the right wall, Edward opened the first one and walked in.
The room before them appeared to be a large, cavernous living room, empty except for the enormous unlit marble fireplace on the opposite wall. The wallpaper was dark and stained; the wood floor was dull and dirty. A connecting door led them through to the dining room, which was a large room with a long wood table at its center.
The bleakness of this room and all the other rooms in this house made Louise feel uneasy. The house was very dismal looking with its dark paneling, and it lacked any furnishings that would have made it feel more like a home. And where was everyone? Where was their elusive host? This was supposed to have been a party for them, but the house looked deserted—as if it hadn’t been lived in for a long time. She didn’t want to see any more of it. Who knew what could be lurking behind any of the closed doors? Now she was just scaring herself with her own gloomy thoughts. She caught up to the others, who were standing in the hallway waiting for her.
