BROKEN GLASS

They fly against the Town Hall.
Our shelter from the storm.
They’ve found us.
Windows break.
Glass rains upon us.
The end has come.
Too soon.

MOTHER EARTH

Source:

Red is the grass beneath me.
Dry is the air I must breathe.
Roots spiral from my battered core.
The earth will shelter and protect me.
I will flourish in this forsaken place.

THE END IS HERE

They fly against the windows.
Trying to enter the Town Hall.
Our shelter from the storm.
They’ve found us.
Windows break.
Glass rains upon us.
The end has come.

SEEK SHELTER

The sky rumbles its pain.
The clouds shout out in vain.
The water bubbles hot.
It won’t forget you not.
Run from the hot flames of hail.
Try to hide to no avail.
Seek shelter from the storm.
This will be the new norm.
The Dead now run the town.

The water bubbles hot.
It won’t forget you not.
Run from the hot flames of hail.
Try to hide to no avail.
Seek shelter from the storm.
This will be the new norm.
The Dead now run the town.
Chin up and dare not frown.
We must bow to their favor.
While we wait for our Savior.

CALM BEFORE THE STORM

The Dead are rising.
Cemeteries and crypts will be busy.
Wine will be flowing and so will the blood.
Come out, come out wherever you are!

Time is passing.
Night is approaching.
The moon is rising.
Dark shadows will walk the streets.
Take shelter before it is too late,
before you become one with the shadows.

Life can change in seconds.
The sun can be shining.
Then in moments,
you’re engulfed in a storm.
Palm trees are swaying in the wind.
Rooftops are flying.
The Dead don’t take prisoners.

RUN FOR SHELTER

Run for shelter.
Take cover.
Our picnic is over.
The storm is coming closer.
The waves are growing taller.
The palm trees are waving their branches.
The weather was perfect.
Now the heavens have opened.
Lightning is flashing across the sky.
Followed by loud rumblings of thunder.
We must we get to the Town Hall in time.
Those are rooftops flying over our heads.
What else can happen?

THE CASTLE WAITS

The castle waits in the cold.
In the deepening snow.
Brutal winds charge against it.
Icicles hang from it.
It holds strong and steady.
It waits for us.
To give us shelter in the storm.

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN --- THE DEAD GAME --- PART 45

Do my eyes deceive me?
Can this be true?
A creature is stalking me
Through the dark streets of town.

Eyes black as night.
Cries as soft as the wind.
Sharp claws tapping a sad melody.
It draws closer to me still.

The mansion's gates yawn open for me.
My feet leave tracks in the mud.
Handprints where I fall in my haste.
Salty tears on the rocks.

The mansion waits in its dark glory
For the innocent and weary.
It sheds its shell like a caterpillar,
But no butterfly does it become.

The creature gains ground.
Stalking in its feline way.
Whiskers in the wind,
Leading its way to me.

One last stumble for me.
My knees graze the rocks.
My fingers climb the steps,
Digging deep into the dirt.

I turn one last time.
The dark one stands up.
Becoming taller and straighter.
On two feet it stands tall.

Its yellow eyes glimmer black.
No whiskers to follow my scent.
White skin for black fur.
Laughter falls from its lips.

He has come for me one last time.
He walks on muscled legs.
Sure and strong is his gait.
For no more does he crawl.

"Come to me!" he says.
"No more games for us to play."
His hand reaches for mine
As I wait for this game to end.

"I refuse to belong to you."
My voice shakes in despair.
I will not be a follower
Of The Dead and long gone.

The house swallows me whole.
I am hidden inside its walls.
A maze of rooms for shelter.
Darkness to shield me from harm.

THE PERFECT FANTASY

THE PERFECT FANTASY

A pure taste of happiness.
Boats filled with flowers.
Sea gulls picking at the shore.
The perfect fantasy until...

Grey clouds roll in.
The sky turns dark.
Thunder rumbles in the distance.
Rain droplets ping on the boats.

The party is over.
My fantasy is over.
The fun is over.
Belongings are packed.

Winds dig into the sand.
Palm trees tremble in fear.
Birds flee en-mass.
Time to seek shelter.

The Dead are coming to Oasis.
