DEADLY INVITATION

thecastleofotranto:
Costume designed by Eiko Ishioka (1938~2012)

Come to me, my pretty.
I’m waiting with open arms.
Grab hold of my gown.
I will take you on an adventure.
The bats will be your guide.
Don’t worry.
No one will harm you.
Unless I say so.
Would you follow her?
What else comes to mind
when you see such a gown?

LOST FACE

Garis Edelweiss (Indonesian, b. 1984, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur, Indonesia) – Maddah-Sarasvati, 2017  Drawings: Pencil on Paper

A picture is worth a thousand words.
What words does this picture inspire?
A woman whose face is lost,
To be replaced by bouncing balls.
What are we without our faces?
What will we have left to show the world?
The image brings forth feelings of confusion,
An imbalance created by the lack of face.
Our faces are needed to reveal our true selves.
Without them, we are useless like
balls forever bouncing by an unseen force.

THE WEEPING WOMAN

The lights turn on in the room so dark.
We came here for a dare and a lark.
The rooms are deserted and cold.
Ghosts would be present we were told.

All we see are dust and deserted rooms.
No one has lived here in so many moons.
The quiet is unnerving and thick.
Time for us to leave this scene real quick.

Something doesn’t feel right.
We must turn and take flight.
Before the noise from above
Thinks we are her lost love.

The weeping woman is coming near.
She dances and chuckles at our fear.
The doors and windows are locking.
Our escape the ghost is blocking.

WOMAN IN THE WOODS

Dance in the woods.
Feel the wind
lifting your hair.
Raise your arms
to the sky.
Sway to the soft wind.
Listen.
No sounds.
No more winds.
Dance with the darkness.
Dance with the shadows.
Dance with death.
It comes quickly and swiftly.
No warning.
No sounds.
Only death.

Oh Erte.
The grace and elegance
of your art.
The master of your craft.
The precision of details.
The combination of colors.
The impeccable designs.
The lover of the human form.
The lover of a woman’s form.
We thank you, Erte.

THE WOMAN IN THE SHADOWS

THE WOMAN IN THE SHADOWS
This would make a nice story.
Each night a woman appears.
She floats across the dimly lit garden.
No one knows where she came from
or who she’s looking for.
I look out my window
and see her every night.
One night she doesn’t appear.
Did she find what she was looking for?
Did she find her true love?
I will never know but I still wait for her.

DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES

SOMEONE WAITING FOR YOU

Do you have someone waiting for you to come home?
Is she waiting at the window, day after day,
year after year?
Has she grown older?
Is she sad?
Or is she a ghost like you,
waiting for you to find her?
Do you have someone waiting for you to come home?
Is she waiting at the window, day after day,
year after year?
Has she grown older?
Is she sad?
Or is she a ghost like you,
waiting for you to find her?
