THE DEAD GAME

I leave the storefronts behind,

their tinted-green windows reflecting the bright sunlight.

I hurry toward the boardwalk and beach.

The soft sand will trickle through my toes.

The sea breeze propels me forward.

Beyond the white sand,

the waves dance and writhe in a demented dance,

a dance growing wilder by the minute.

The palm trees bow their heads to the wind.

Rooftops sail through the air.

Glass crunches beneath my feet

as I run through the streets.

The windows hang broken and twisted.

The saddest sight is the church.

The once-white church stands charcoal-black,

debris at its proud feet.

They’re here.

The deadly games have begun.

THE BRIGHT SUNSHINE OF FLORIDA

The Dead vampires use an exclusive club in Disney World to infiltrate the rich & famous.

As they grow in power, not even the bright sunshine of Florida can weaken them.

Linda & her friends must defeat them.

A PERFECT OASIS

sunset thru palm trees

Palm trees waving in the breeze.
Blue-green water for me, please.

White sand sparkles in the sun.
Tourists frolic and have fun.

A perfect oasis for the elite.
Many celebrities you might meet.

The night brings icy winds
and demons’ deadly sins.

Dark shadows descend on the town.
My life has turned upside down.

RED IN ITS ANGER

The storm approaches the shore.
A spray of water hits my face.
The salty breeze lifts tendrils of hair.
Palm trees sway and bend.
The sand ripples
from the increasing wind.
Birds flee for safety.
Waves crash against the rocks.
The sky darkens to red in its anger,
raining tears across the land and sea.
When will it end?
Once the sky calms,
the sun will shine.
The birds will return.
The tantrum will be over.

ANCHORS IN THE WIND

Postcard from Tulum by Todd Wall

Calm blue waters.
Pink sand.
Palm trees wave in the sea breeze.
A burst of wind lifts the palm trees.
From their roots, they fly.
From their anchors in the sand.
A puff of wind
and they’re gone.

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN
Linda lifts her face to the night sky.
The clouds part to reveal the moon,
A light reserved for night creatures.
Sand swirls around her
as laughter floats in the wind.
She runs to the boardwalk
as footsteps echo behind...

OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN
Linda lifts her face to the night sky.
The clouds part to reveal the moon,
A light reserved for night creatures.
Sand swirls around her
as laughter floats in the wind.
She runs to the boardwalk
as footsteps echo behind her.
Will I make it home in time?
She races along the path.
A shadow detaches from between the palm trees.
She runs into a hard chest.
“What are you doing here alone?”
Todd asks.
She isn’t afraid of him.
Or is she?

NO EVIL, PLEASE

Pool in third villa

Palm trees sway in the sea breeze.
Free our town from evil, please.
We need to wipe the slate clean.
No demons or vampires to be seen.

BURNT ORANGE

Photo: Whelan Works

The sky burns orange.
Winds whip in a frenzy.
Waves rush in.
Birds flee the scene.
Palm trees bow their heads.
The sun retreats.
Say a prayer for us.

FEEL IT

Does this place exist?
Is it an illusion?
I need palm trees.
My own oasis.
An escape from the world.
Empty of people.
I can see it.
Feel the hot sunshine.
Cold water on my toes.
A paradise so sweet.
Honey on my lips.
I’m there right now.
Don’t bother me.

DREAMS COME TRUE

An oasis where dreams come true,
Palm trees wave in the warm breeze,
And birds sing a happy tune of their own.
The night exhales its cold breath.
Torrents of wind whip across the sand,
Where dark shadows leave no footprints,
And tourists remain innocent no more.

A DAY AT THE BEACH

Source:

A sea breeze to soothe my aching soul.
Palm trees to fan my hot body.
Cold water to caress my toes.
White sand flows through my fingers.
A day in Oasis, Florida.
A day at the beach.
