OUR GAMES HAVE JUST BEGUN --- THE DEAD GAME --- PART 20

What is reality?
And what is fantasy?
Should I run to the cold
Or go to the heat?
I shouldn't have left the party.

Wolf stands under a tree.
His gaze leaves frosty trail-marks
On Linda's shivering body.
The cold air holds her in its thrall.

"Come to me."
Wolf walks forward,
Bringing cold summer nights with him,
Promises of snow-swept sunrises.
He stands frozen in place.

Her shoes dig into the icy cold grass,
Taking her closer to her destiny.
She can't fight it any longer.
She has to give in to the night.

Wolf takes her into his arms.
"You are now mine,
My ice princess."
His lips crush hers in a bruising kiss.

Hot flames burst around her.
Freezing rain washes them away.
Hot and cold feelings overwhelm her.
Each fighting for domination.

Am I ready for this?
Ready for the cold and the night?
Wolf's black eyes lock into hers,
Assuring her,
Drawing her closer to him.

A snapped twig is followed by hot breath.
The ice melts off her.
Her heart pumps blood to her cold limbs.
She moves away from Wolf.

Todd's arms envelope her with their warmth.
They encircle her with feelings of love.
"This is right.
This is my destiny."
She smiles.

Wolf's eyes turn hard and unrelenting.
He backs away from her.
"This battle is not finished"
Are his last words
Before he disappears into the night.

THE BEAST WITHIN

zodiacke: Beast by Klaus Wittmann

The beast within.
Each one of us has
a beast lurking inside.
Waiting to be free.
Free to wreck havoc.
To seek revenge.
Yearning to be free.
We must tame the savage beast.
Refuse to let it take control
of our lives and our hearts.
We must soothe the savage beast.
Or we risk becoming one ourselves.

THE DEAD GAME -- DAY 162

Hope springs eternal in Oasis, Florida.

The others silently followed Todd out of Wolf’s house of horrors. Linda looked back at the house one last time, lagging behind the others, reflecting on the total waste. The beautiful house was built on a lush mountainside, overlooking a beach with sparkling white sand and clear blue skies. But who would want to live in this house after all the gruesome deaths?
She feared that there wasn’t a perfect paradise to be found anywhere in the world. Good and evil existed everywhere, violently vying against each other every day. The Dead had attempted to shift reality, but in the end they had to contend with the good forces in the world. This time good was victorious; however, Linda knew that this wouldn’t always be the outcome. Life didn’t always provide happy endings. She stopped in mid thought, realizing what she’d been thinking. She has always been such an optimist, but now she’d become as cynical and pessimistic as Shana, fearing that Todd wouldn’t be able to protect her from all the evil in the world.
Her greatest fear was of never fitting into Todd’s world of supernatural beings. But then he turned to her, giving her a warm look full of hope and yearning, and she knew that he would always be there protect her. And it was okay that he was a human vampire.  Once they dealt with The Dead, they would able to work through their differences.
She smiled. Todd hurried back to her, placing her hand in his as they walked outside into the bright sunshine.

HOPE SPRINGS ANEW

nichvlas:

Some days feel dark and stormy
with no hope and no end in sight.
The next day, the sun rises
and shows us its cheerful face.
Our hope is renewed like the new day.
We must remember that the
sun rises each and every morning.
And we must rise with it—with hope
in our hearts for new beginnings.
