Desolate.
Alone.
Stark.
Cold.
Empty.
Sitting on a hill.
No houses nearby.
Only the comfort
of a bare tree.
The wind rattles
through my open beams.
Snow drifts in from my roof.
No peace.
Only cold.
And deafening silence.
Will it always be so?
Will the sun shine ever again?
Will horses return to my stables?
I could only wait and hope.
Open the window.
Let the fresh air inside.
Look out at the bright lights.
The people hurrying on the streets.
The tall buildings.
Are people asleep behind the dark windows?
Are there parties being thrown behind the lit ones?
So much activity.
So much to see.
What is that?
A shooting star.
A sure sign that we are never alone.
brutalgeneration:
The road looks dark and deserted.
Where are the houses on this hill?
Are creatures waiting to pounce on us?
Should we take the path?
I hear moaning.
Is that the wind?
Now I hear something rustling
through the trees.
It’s time to turn around and return to town.
But where’s the path that had led us here?
It’s getting darker by the minute.
We better get out of here fast.
For darkness is the time when dark shadows
roam the streets of Oasis.
In this remote town, anything could happen.
