LOST AT A CARNIVAL

I’m lost at a carnival,
A carnival of nightmares.
A clown leers at me.
The knife-thrower aims
But misses.
I run into a tent.
Mirrors surround me,
Distorting my reflection.
I flee into the darkness,
Crashing through a mirror.
Glass rains on me.
I’m in a dark room.
The floor spins.
I grab for the walls.
They are wet and shiny.
There’s no way out.
The floor bottoms out,
And I’m falling.

THE DOOR

Wooden Door, Orvieto, Italy © Doug Hickok  All Rights Reserved

The door beckons.
It opens.
Into the darkness.
Into the quiet.
We step inside.
It locks behind us.
The silence envelopes us.
It carries us to our destination.
To the dark chambers.
Beneath the house.
Where our fate awaits us.

LOST

Lost to a world of death.
Far beneath the earth.
Trapped for centuries.
Never seeing the light.
Night never turning into day.
A family lost to the dark.
Driven crazy by despair.
Locked in dark chambers.
For eternity.
Lost to the world of the damned.
Only one could save them.

FOLLOW THE CANDLES

End House is dark and deserted.
The invitation called for a party.
No one is here to greet us.
Flickering candles line the hallway,
Beckoning us to follow.
Gargoyles tower over the carpeted staircase.
The door behind us locks shut.
What do we do now?

BURNING

Is End House gone for good?
Will it be back in a different form?
It burns in hell.
It burns to ashes.
Melting into the ground.
Into the dark tunnels.
I can hear the rumbling.
The voices of The Dead.
In their locked chambers.
Waiting to return.
