A CANDY STORE

A candy store of fun.
Which one to choose?
Yellow or red?
Maybe a binding of white?
No choice can be bad.

The old bookstore.

Why don’t we have these anymore?
Books covering ceiling to floor.
Happiness between the binding.
What a perfect and safe finding.
Read in the candlelight.
Nothing can be as right.
Pictures and words before my eyes.
Reading about truth and some lies.
You’ll definitely find me hiding.
The tall shelves of books I’ll be minding.

ODE TO MY BOOK

Nothing can be as fine

As the dear book of mine.

It might not be sold in a big bookstore,

But you will not find one to offer more.

It was created with much love and hope,

Even though it wasn't blessed by a Pope.

It has my blood, sweat, and tears.

Might raise many of your fears.

It has action, murder, and romance.

I can even do a little dance.

Please try it and you'll see

It has the best of me.

A HEAVEN OF SWEETS

Source:

Take me to the room,
Where books cover the walls.
Globes stand at attention,
Ladders set to be climbed.
Cushioned chairs for reading,
Tables set for writing.
Let’s climb up to the stacks,
And see what we may find.
Romance today for thee,
Perhaps a mystery for me.
A confectioner’s treat,
A true heaven of sweets.

A VISION

A VISION
The bookstore is dark.
I turn on the lights.
Rows of bookcases loom tall.
I open the curtains.
The Florida sun flows in through picture windows.
Bright squares fall across the floor.
The perfect spot for comfy couches and chairs.
A counter with stools to the right,
where I would serve coffee and pastries.
Book stacks to the left.
Yes, it’s all coming alive to me.
A bookstore/ coffee shop
in the seaside town of Oasis.
Little did I know of the otherworldly plans
taking place at the same time as mine.
Plans that are in no way
as peaceful and innocent as mine.

book cover

Thank you Mandy Saial! I love your review of The Dead Game!

5.0 out of 5 stars
A keep you on the Edge of your seat mystery !
By MANDY SAIAL on June 20, 2016
Format: Kindle Edition

The Dead Game – Susanne Leist (5 Stars )
Linda opens up a bookstore in the normal seaside town of Oasis, Florida. Making new friends and meeting tourists while starting up her business is a breeze in this tranquil Paradise, but when people start disappearing after sunset, later to be found dead and drained of blood, it is time to figure out what is happening .
When they get a invitation to a party they decide to go and end up in a rickety old house where they have to fight for survival in a cat and mouse game, all while they are stalked my unhuman creatures.
Could this be the end ??
This was a thrilling, vampire Horror, mystery storyline that kept me reading . I was quickly Immersed within this authors original plot line, with entertaining characters and Blood draining creatures from page one .
I felt like I was dropped in the middle of a maze and was trapped and had to find my way out before they found me …deadly consequences resulting !
I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who loves Mystery, Thrillers or vampires.

THE SMELL OF A BOOKSTORE

The smell of a bookstore.
The enticing aroma.
It draws me inside.
Pulling me into its embrace.

Shelf after shelf of books.
Books that have one purpose.
To keep their words safe.
For someone, like me, to enjoy.

Sunlight streams in.
Highlighting the dust mites in the air.
I reach for a book.
Is this the best one for me?

Pages are rustling in the next aisle.
Other people are lost in their books.
Maybe I don't need to pick just one.
Endless possibilities.

History, mystery, cooking,
Oh my!
What to choose?
Do I need to choose?

I feel like skipping down the block.
I leave the store with bags of books.
Eager to read them.
Eager to learn for them.
Life is good today.

PARADISE

ahumblemagic:

PARADISE
To some,
paradise has beaches and sun.
To others,
it might have snow and trails.
But to me,
paradise is a good book.
There’s nothing like the feel,
the smell,
the excitement
of opening a new book.
Inside,
there are worlds to explore
and people to meet.
Open a book,
and live a life
like no other.
