Light

I close my fingers.
But I can’t catch it.
It filters through.
Continuing on its journey.
Nothing can stop it.
Nothing can hold it.

DARKNESS, MY OLD FRIEND

DARKNESS, MY OLD FRIEND

“Why is it so dark down here?”
Timmy asks.
“The light bulb must have gone out,”
his father replies.
The steps creak as they descend.
The darkness envelopes them.
It holds them close.
In a lover’s embrace.
“Hello darkness, my old friend,”
the father calls out.
The darkness brings them closer.
Closer to its heart.
The trio fall asleep in its grasp.
A long sleep.
A sleep of the dead.
“Goodbye darkness, my old friend.”

A SNOWY DAY

Paradise is within our grasp.
Within our environment.
Within our homes.
We just have to stop,
watch, and listen.
It could be as simple
as a snowy day.
Or as complex as
a large family.
Enjoy the happy season.
Have fun in the snow.
Appreciate your family.
Paradise is within our grasp.
