A GARDEN FOR THE DEAD

crying statue

Frozen in place.

Dripping tears for centuries.

Memories of a lifetime.

Praying for salvation.

A frown for eternity.

Will her tears sprout

a garden for The Dead?

FOLLOW THE LIGHTS
Follow the lights to the house of glass.
There will be much splendor in the grass.
Lights in the trees as far as the eye could see.
A more decadent event there could not be.

Champagne will flow until the wee hours.
Come with me and dance among the flowers.
This room full of guests gives me a chill.
Maybe we should leave, I’ve had my fill.

Stares follow us in the room.
They’ll be upon us too soon.
The guests are not what they appear.
Beneath, they are just bones and hair.

A MERE REFLECTION?

Source:

A reflection of perfection.
Better than the original?
It moves.
It shimmers.
It elongates.
It stretches.
Distorting the original.
A reflection.

THE DEAD GAME – EXCERPT

THE DEAD GAME – EXCERPT
Linda was pulled into the deserted garden to face Wolf and his side-kick Hayden. She didn’t know what was real or what was illusion.
“I didn’t come here to play parlor games with you. I need you to convince Todd to join with us,” Wolf said in a loud voice. “He can never be human or accepted by them. He’s a human vampire. He belongs with us. It makes more sense for him to stick with his own kind.”
“He’s not like you in any way at all: he cares too deeply for people and is loyal to his friends.” Linda backed away. “On the other hand, you and your vampires enjoy killing too much and have no feelings whatsoever.”
“Todd will never be accepted by humans or by his own kind. He will be an outcast with nowhere to go,” Wolf said, moving closer to her.
“Todd is human and will always be accepted by humans.”
“Let’s kill her now, boss.” Hayden stepped in. “She’s going to be trouble; I can take her away and no one will ever see her again.”
Wolf strolled over to her with a wicked gleam surfacing in his eyes. “I have a much better use for her in the future. When she finally comes to her senses, she’ll realize that she’ll be better off with a real vampire with limitless powers than with a pathetic human. She’ll learn about love and passion—not the games that humans play that pale in comparison. Here comes the human. Let her go for now.”
Linda was horrified to find herself wrapped in Wolf’s muscular arms, hypnotized by his black eyes and tempted by his deep voice.
“I’ll be back for you.” Wolf promised as he held her tight against him, whispering in her ear, ”I love the way you stand up to me with your flashing blue eyes. Soon you’ll be mine, my beautiful ice queen.”
Linda couldn’t move; she was stuck in some kind of trance…she couldn’t leave or even want to leave if given the choice. His voice soothed her and made her think of love, passion, and great need: a need that could only be met by Wolf with his expert hands and mouth. She knew that one day she was going to be with him, to be joined with him.
His mouth lowered onto hers, drawing her into a swirling miasma of unexpected feelings and desires. His mouth covering hers introduced her to a new realm of pure pleasure. His powerful form enveloped her, making her feel feelings that were foreign and untried for her. She couldn’t get enough of him. She tentatively began touching his face, then his body with an eager and unrelenting hunger.

OPEN THE DOOR

A closed door.
It can open to many things.
It can lead to a garden of flowers.
It can also lead to unspeakable horrors.
What are you in the mood for?
Do you want pretty flowers,
or do you want to explore the unknown?
The choice is yours.

IT SITS ALONE IN THE GARDEN

How sad is this statue?
Tears dripping down its body.
It sits alone in the garden.
A heart frozen to its core.

Its eyes closed in sadness.
For a savior long and gone.
It sits alone in the garden.
Waiting for help from beyond.

Tears fall ever so slowly.
Freezing close to the ground.
It sits alone in the garden.
Its silent sighs in the wind.

It bows its head in prayer.
For a savior not found.
It sits alone in the garden.
No one else around.

DARKNESS MY ONLY FRIEND

A moonlit garden.
Rose bushes follow
the meandering paths.
Wind rustles the leaves
of the towering oak trees.
The guests are inside.
Dancing to the music.
Twirling around the dance floor.
Darkness is my friend.
It waits in the shadows.
I walk farther from the house.
A cry breaks through the silence.
I look up.
A clearing ahead
holds statues.
One is bent over.
Crying.
Tears falling on white stone.
She lifts her head.
Darkness descends at last.

HOPE AND DESPAIR

IN MY SHADOW

  1. I will protect you, my little one.
    Walk before me.
    Stay in my shadow.
    Learn of the world.
    The good and the bad.
    I will be behind you.
To catch you if you fall.

GARDEN OF DELIGHT

A garden of delight for me.
In colors of the deep blue sea.
In my mind’s eye I can see.
Myself falling into thee.
In the shade of the plum tree
I’lll wait and you’ll come to me.
We’ll fly away to be free.
To the waves of the blue sea.

WHISPERS

Source:

Should I stay?
Or should I go?
The island calls to me.
It whispers my name.
The bridge sighs.
It weeps for me.
I will walk across.
It wobbles to and fro.
I hold tight to the ropes.
One step gives way.
So does the next.
The sides unravel.
It hangs by strings.
I can’t go back.
Or forward.
Time stands still.
Then I’m falling.
Water so cold.
Hits my face hard.
Silence takes it turn.
Water covers the rest.

UNTIL THE NIGHT

  1. The bushes move.
    They have a heartbeat.
    A movement of their own.
    To an unknown tune.
    They surround me.
    They comfort me.
    In the darkness.
    In the night.
    Until the morning light.
    When the sun wakes.
    The bushes part.
    And let me out.
    Ready for a new day.
    Until the night.

HOPE AND DESPAIR

Take me in your arms.
Hold me close.
I want to feel your darkness.
Take me to the limits.
Of your hope and despair.
Into the cold depths.
To the wetness beyond.
