A WHITE BLANKET OF SNOW

White Blanket of Snow

Flakes float to the ground

As a hush falls across the city.

Few cars brave the road.

Footsteps have yet to mark

The white surface.

The blanket of snow sparkles clean.

The city is refreshed,

Its sins covered,

For tonight.

FOOTSTEPS

Do we dare?
Dare to walk in the snow.
Climb the sharp rocks.
Slide down the steep slopes.
Feel the cold on our faces.
The wind hitting our bodies.
The brisk nip in the air.
Do we?
Someone else has done it.
See the footsteps left behind.

A WINTER WONDERLAND

The gate is open.
I’m going inside.
I wonder who owns this property.
Is it some computer wizard
or maybe a movie star?
For now, it’s mine.
It is quiet and deserted.
No footsteps in the snow,
besides mine.
The trees extend far into the distance.
All I can see is white and more white.
A winter wonderland
created just for me.
I hear a rumbling sound
coming from beneath me.
It’s not beneath me
but next to me.
Two Doberman Pinschers
are growling up at me.
"Zeus, Apollo?"
More growling.
Time to run.
For my life.
