Dark water.
Night comes slowly.
Footsteps fall softly.
Boats drift by.
A cat meows.
Footsteps move closer.
I can see no one.
A noise by the garbage can.
A splash in the water.
Footsteps sounding louder.
An oar hitting the water.
Chains rattling.
More footsteps.
I turn around.
A flash of light.
Footsteps stop.
My ride's here.
My gondola is filled with flowers
and my true love.
A perfect end to the day.
