Kirkus Review on Prey for The Dead

“Set five years after the events in Leist’s (The Dead Game, 2013) previous novel, this sequel aims to expand on the threat of Wolf and explore romance among the vamps. Readers will also enjoy a touch of mystery when they discover that Wolf’s spirit has migrated into a new body... The Florida coast is beautifully evoked by water that “shimmered in alternating shades of azure and cerulean blue” and “the scent of zinnias and lavender” that “permeated the gentle wind.” Most of the violence isn’t the traditional vampire neck biting but more in tune with battlefield carnage (“A body hung from the chandelier—a headless form—still wearing his shirt and pants, now saturated with blood”).” — Kirkus Reviews

THE DEAD GAME Series

The town of Oasis offers tourists a promising glimpse of paradise with white-sanded beaches and legendary sunsets. Life changes in the remote town as people disappear, and some even turn up dead on the beach. Overnight, the dream vacation spot becomes an unsafe haven harboring dark secrets and murder.
It begins with the mysterious invitation to a party at End House. It is a night that neither Linda Bennett nor her friends would forget. From this night forward, they find themselves trapped as pawns in a game...caught in a deepening quagmire of deceit and horror...in a power play between good and evil. Pursued by supernatural creatures, they must fight illusions and elaborate traps. To save themselves and the town, they must reveal the real face of evil--the one controlling the game and its elusive players.

In Book Two, Prey for The Dead, the fun continues as Linda and her friends pursue evil vampires through an exclusive club at Disney World to a showdown in the swamps of southern Florida.

Will Linda save her town? Can she find happiness with a vampire or a hybrid?
